Role Context
The Inspector - Structural Building Construction provides continuous site-based verification of structural works from foundation stages through framing and final completion. The role safeguards construction quality by checking dimensions, materials, workmanship, structural details, and compliance documentation against approved technical requirements. Effective inspection and prompt corrective action reduce rework, prevent hidden defects, support structural integrity, and strengthen the quality of completed building assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect structural works during foundation, substructure, superstructure, framing, and completion stages.
- Verify construction against approved structural drawings, technical specifications, method statements, and project requirements.
- Confirm compliance with applicable UAE building codes, international construction standards, and approved engineering criteria.
- Assess structural components and construction methods for workmanship, dimensional accuracy, integrity, and safety.
- Identify defects, deviations, unsafe conditions, incomplete works, and technical non-conformities.
- Record inspection findings through detailed reports, site notes, measurements, and photographic evidence.
- Maintain organized inspection registers, test records, compliance documentation, and supporting project files.
- Verify the quality and suitability of structural materials and confirm their use in accordance with approved requirements.
- Perform site measurements and physical assessments using appropriate inspection tools and techniques.
- Communicate technical observations and corrective requirements to contractors, engineers, and project management teams.
- Investigate construction issues and support development of practical corrective actions.
- Conduct follow-up inspections to confirm that rectification works meet required acceptance criteria.
- Coordinate with architectural, civil, MEP, and other project disciplines where structural interfaces affect construction quality.
- Monitor adherence to safety procedures while carrying out structural inspection activities.
- Support QA/QC processes by ensuring inspection activities are documented consistently and traceably.
- Escalate significant structural or safety concerns where immediate engineering review is required.
- Assist with inspection closeout and verification of outstanding structural items before project completion and handover.
Ideal Profile
- Minimum 8 years of professional experience in structural inspection, construction quality assurance, site supervision, or a related field.
- Diploma or Bachelor 's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a relevant discipline.
- Strong knowledge of structural construction principles and building inspection practices.
- Practical understanding of foundations, reinforced concrete, framing systems, structural components, and construction sequencing.
- Familiarity with UAE building codes and relevant international construction standards.
- Proven ability to interpret structural drawings, specifications, technical details, and project documentation.
- Experience identifying workmanship defects, dimensional discrepancies, material issues, and non-conforming construction.
- Competence in using site measurement tools and inspection equipment.
- Strong understanding of QA/QC documentation and corrective action follow-up.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with contractors, consultants, engineers, and multidisciplinary supervision teams.
- Methodical approach to technical reporting, photographic documentation, and inspection record management.
- Experience on major building construction projects in the Middle East is advantageous.
