Job summary

Star Services is seeking an inspection-focused professional with steel industry experience in Abu Dhabi. You will perform inline inspections at mills, classify rolled products, and report nonconformities to ensure compliance with Emirates Steel QS programs and customer requirements.

You will also manage sampling, billets inspections, re-inspection after rectification, and SAP data entry to support production quality. A strong focus on safety and ISO 17025 adherence is required.

Qualifications

• Diploma in metallurgy, mechanical or science is required.
• Computer skills are essential.
• 2-5 years in a similar position in an integrated steel plant.
• Knowledge of ISO 17025 standard requirements.

Responsibilities

• Inline inspection at mills and classification of rolled product.
• Report non-conformities to mills for corrective action.
• Perform inspection functions and segregation of nonconforming items per QS program.
• Provide samples for testing as per specification.
• Carry out re-inspection after rectification and record results.
• Inspect billets for dimensional checks and chemical analysis verification.
• Enter inspection data into SAP and issue usage decisions.
• Maintain safety, health and environmental standards.
• Support ISO 17025 implementation per company procedures.

Must Have Steel Industry Experience

Minimum Education Qualifications (Must Haves) Any preferred professional training (Nice to have)

Diploma in metallurgy or mechanical or graduate of science Computer skills

Knowledge of different specifications of reinforcing bars and wire rod coils.

Knowledge of defects in semi-finished and finished products.

Knowledge of steel making and processing.

Professional Experience (Must haves) Previous Experience/exposure Recommendations (Nice to have)

2-5 years in similar position in integrated steel plant

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Key Accountabilities)

In Line Inspection at Mills

Inline inspection and classification of the rolled product as per standard.

Report non conformities immediately to the mills for corrective action to minimize production of non-confirming product.

Shall be responsible for performing all inspection functions, identification and segregation of Nonconforming items, as specified in the Emirates Steel QS Program to ensure compliance to applicable Standards, ASME Code and Customer requirements.

Sampling

Provide samples at specified frequency for testing as per specification.

Inspect components or assemblies and perform final checks on completed products, if required.

Re-inspection of Held Material

Carry out re-inspection after rectification/retesting to classify.

Re inspection to also record the results of inspection, calculate the number of defects, and prepare inspection and test reports.

Inspection of Billets

To carry out random dimensional check, surface defects and verify the chemical analysis results on billets to assign the grades.

Locate the cause of defects and correct production problems.

SAP Data Entry & Release

Enter the inspection data in the SAP and make usage decision.

Safety Health & Environment

To maintain and comply with the company safety, health & environmental aspects at the work places to avoid injuries, damage to equipment/environment.

System Adequacy

Implementation of ISO 17025 as per company's testing standard requirement, procedures and work instructions.
