Job summary

AECOM is seeking an Electrical/Mechanical Inspector to support the site-based supervision of Sewage Treatment Plant projects in Dubai. You will perform daily inspections, verify conformance to DEWA/Dubai Municipality standards, and coordinate with the Resident Engineer and Assistant RE for corrective actions.

Witness FAT/SAT and assist with final handover while maintaining QA/QC records. The role requires a Diploma or Bachelor in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with extensive on-site

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
  • Degree holder: minimum 7 years of relevant inspection experience on infrastructure or STP projects.
  • Diploma holder: minimum 10 years of relevant inspection experience in electrical and/or mechanical supervision.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications and standards related to STP projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of DEWA and Dubai Municipality regulations and standards for electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Strong understanding of QA/QC procedures and ability to implement them on-site.
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems instrumentation and control panels used in STP projects.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily inspections of electrical and mechanical works related to STP infrastructure.
  • Ensure contractors adherence to approved shop drawings, method statements, DEWA/DM specifications and QA/QC procedures.
  • Monitor installation, alignment, testing and commissioning of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Verify contractor compliance with authority standards including DEWA Dubai Municipality and project-specific quality and safety protocols.
  • Coordinate with Resident Engineer (RE) and Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) to address site challenges and implement corrective measures.
  • Track progress of MEP works, report deviations and raise site observations/non-conformance reports when required.
  • Document and report daily inspections, material deliveries, test results and site activities.
  • Support supervision during equipment start-up testing and final handover including witnessing FAT/SAT and commissioning tests.
  • Review and verify as-built drawings and installation records submitted by the contractor.
  • Liaise with client representatives during inspections and provide technical clarification as needed.
  • Monitor adherence to approved health and safety procedures during execution of MEP works.
  • Provide input on RFIs, technical submittals and inspection requests related to electrical and mechanical works.

Job description

The Electrical / Mechanical Inspector will support the construction supervision team on Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) projects under Dubai Municipality by ensuring that all electrical and mechanical works are executed in accordance with project specifications approved drawings and applicable authority standards. The role involves on-site inspection quality control and technical coordination with contractors and the supervision team.

Job Duties:
  • Conduct daily inspections of electrical and mechanical works related to STP infrastructure such as pumps blowers valves piping HVAC control panels cabling and instrumentation.
  • Ensure contractors adherence to approved shop drawings method statements DEWA/DM specifications and QA/QC procedures.
  • Monitor installation alignment testing and commissioning of mechanical systems (e.g. pipe networks pumps mechanical fittings) and electrical systems (e.g. LV/MV panels SCADA cable trays grounding).
  • Verify contractor compliance with authority standards including DEWA Dubai Municipality and project-specific quality and safety protocols.
  • Coordinate with Resident Engineer (RE) and Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) to address site challenges and implement corrective measures.
