The Mechanical Inspector is responsible for inspecting, monitoring, and verifying all mechanical works associated with Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) projects to ensure compliance with Dubai Municipality (DM) requirements, approved drawings, project specifications, method statements, and applicable international standards. The role includes inspection of mechanical equipment, piping systems, sludge handling facilities, chemical dosing systems, HVAC installations, testing, commissioning activities, and quality assurance processes. The Mechanical Inspector will ensure that all mechanical works are executed in accordance with approved standards and manufacturer recommendations while maintaining high levels of safety, quality, and operational reliability.
- Inspect mechanical works for the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and DM requirements.
- Inspect installation of pumps, blowers, compressors, mixers, agitators, and other mechanical equipment.
- Verify equipment installation, alignment, level, orientation, anchoring, and accessibility.
- Inspect mechanical piping systems, including process, sludge, air, chemical dosing, and utility pipelines.
- Verify pipe size, material, rating, fittings, valves, supports, and installation against approved drawings.
- Inspect valves, actuators, strainers, expansion joints, flexible connections, and associated accessories.
- Witness hydrostatic, pressure, leakage, flushing, and cleaning tests for mechanical piping systems.
- Inspect equipment foundations, base plates, anchor bolts, grouting, and vibration isolation arrangements.
- Check installation of tanks, screens, gates, mechanical screens, grit removal equipment, and associated systems.
- Inspect sludge handling and dewatering equipment, including pumps, conveyors, centrifuges, and related systems.
- Inspect chemical dosing systems, storage tanks, dosing pumps, pipework, and safety provisions.
- Verify installation of HVAC and ventilation systems where included in the STP scope.
- Inspect compressed air and air distribution systems for process equipment.
- Review approved shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, ITPs, and equipment data sheets.
- Verify delivered mechanical equipment and materials against approved submittals and manufacturer requirements.
- Check equipment identification, nameplates, capacities, model numbers, and certificates.
- Monitor installation tolerances, workmanship, and compliance with manufacturer recommendations.
- Coordinate with civil, electrical, instrumentation, and process teams to resolve interface issues.
- Witness equipment pre-commissioning, functional testing, and commissioning activities.
- Verify lubrication, rotation, vibration, alignment, and operational checks of rotating equipment.
- Identify defective or non-conforming mechanical works and follow up corrective actions.
- Review and close Inspection Requests (IRs), NCRs, and site observations related to mechanical works.
- Maintain inspection records, checklists, test reports, photographs, and commissioning documentation.
- Support snagging, final inspection, as-built verification, and handover of STP mechanical systems.
- Ensure all mechanical works comply with DM requirements, approved project specifications, drawings, and applicable international standards
