Job summary

Aldar Education is seeking an experienced Inclusion Assistant to join Al Danah Charter School in Abu Dhabi. You will support pupils with special educational needs through individual assistance, small-group instruction and targeted interventions to help access the curriculum.

Qualifications

The Inclusion Assistant will help identified pupils access the curriculum and participate fully in classroom and school activities. Support may address academic, physical, emotional, behavioural, social and communication needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and small-group support throughout the school day.
  • Help pupils participate fully in classroom lessons and wider school activities.
  • Implement individual education programmes linked to each student's IEP goals.
  • Monitor pupils' progress, attainment and classroom engagement.
  • Support students with academic, physical and emotional needs.
  • Assist pupils experiencing behavioural or communication difficulties.
  • Help students develop stronger social and communication skills.
  • Prepare differentiated resources that improve curriculum access.
  • Deliver individual instruction as prescribed by the responsible teacher.
  • Provide group instruction when appropriate.
  • Demonstrate learning activities and reinforce classroom concepts.
  • Monitor assigned work and correct pupils' work according to school policies.
  • Keep identified students and their peers focused on learning activities.
  • Praise achievements and report student progress to teachers.
  • Teach clear strategies that encourage independence.
  • Assist homeroom and subject teachers with maintaining pupil records.
  • Supervise students in classrooms, specialist lessons and other locations.
  • Promote student self-esteem and support positive behaviour.
  • Address misbehaviour consistently and in line with school procedures.
  • Attend and reinforce SaLT, OT and ABA therapy interventions.
  • Help students generalise and consolidate targeted therapeutic skills.
  • Build effective working relationships with teachers and inclusion professionals.
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow procedures for parent communication.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities, school trips and educational visits.
  • Attend professional meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Remain proactive in matters concerning student health and safety.
  • Follow the school's code of conduct and relevant legislation.
  • Maintain professional standards of dress, attendance and punctuality.
  • Mentor newly appointed Inclusion Assistants when experienced and requested.
  • Complete other duties assigned by the Principal or Head of Inclusion.
Ideal Profile
  • Diploma or recognised qualification in Special Educational Needs.
  • Minimum two years of experience supporting pupils with special educational needs.
  • Understanding of individual education programmes and targeted interventions.
  • Ability to support students with varied academic and behavioural requirements.
  • Confidence delivering teacher-directed individual and group instruction.
  • Ability to prepare differentiated learning materials.
  • Experience supporting SaLT, OT or ABA interventions is advantageous.
  • Strong commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Patient, dependable and proactive approach to supporting children.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Respect for the culture and educational values of the UAE.
  • Ability to obtain satisfactory references and police clearance.
