Role Context

Rabdan Charter School is an American Curriculum school in Abu Dhabi with a diverse and progressive educational community. The Inclusion Assistant will help identified pupils access the curriculum, participate in school activities and develop greater independence. Support may address academic, physical, emotional, behavioural, social and communication needs inside and outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and small‑group support throughout the school day.
  • Help pupils participate fully in lessons, specialist subjects and wider school activities.
  • Implement individual education programmes linked to each student's IEP goals.
  • Contribute to monitoring pupils' progress, attainment and classroom participation.
  • Support students with academic, physical, emotional and behavioural difficulties.
  • Help pupils strengthen their social interaction and communication skills.
  • Prepare differentiated resources that improve access to classroom learning.
  • Deliver individual or group instruction as prescribed by the responsible teacher.
  • Demonstrate instructional activities and reinforce concepts introduced during lessons.
  • Monitor assigned work and correct pupils' work in accordance with school policies.
  • Keep identified pupils and their peers focused and engaged with learning activities.
  • Praise achievements and provide teachers with relevant progress updates.
  • Teach clear and meaningful strategies that promote student independence.
  • Assist homeroom and subject teachers with maintaining accurate pupil records.
  • Supervise pupils in classrooms, specialist lessons and other school locations.
  • Support positive behaviour, student self-esteem and consistent classroom discipline.
  • Work closely with homeroom teachers, subject teachers and inclusion professionals.
  • Collaborate with speech therapists, occupational therapists and other specialists.
  • Attend and reinforce SaLT, OT and ABA interventions to consolidate targeted skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow established procedures for parent communication.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities, school trips and educational visits.
  • Attend training sessions and professional meetings when required.
  • Remain proactive in matters relating to student health and safety.
  • Follow the school's code of conduct, safeguarding requirements and relevant policies.
  • Maintain professional standards of dress, attendance and punctuality.
  • Mentor newly appointed Inclusion Assistants when experienced and requested.
  • Complete other reasonable duties assigned by the Principal or Head of Inclusion.
