We are seeking a Hostess for our venue, Son of a Fish, to create a warm and memorable first impression for every guest. The role supports the reception team with guest arrivals, reservations, seating arrangements, and guest communication, while maintaining the highest standards of hospitality and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Experience

• Welcome guests with warmth, confidence, and professionalism, creating an exceptional first impression from the moment they arrive.
• Escort guests to their tables in line with venue standards and established service procedures.
• Maintain a gracious, positive, and engaging manner throughout each interaction.
• Assist guests with enquiries, requests, and special requirements in a timely and attentive manner.
• Ensure every guest feels recognised, valued, and well cared for throughout their visit.
• Support the recognition of VIP guests and the coordination of special occasions and celebrations.
• Maintain an excellent understanding of the venue’s concept, menus, events, promotions, and guest offerings.

Reservations & Seating Management

• Manage reservations accurately and efficiently using approved booking systems and procedures.
• Support table allocation and seating plans to ensure smooth guest flow and optimal use of the venue.
• Maintain accurate and well-organised waitlists during busy service periods.
• Confirm upcoming reservations as required and ensure all booking details are up to date.
• Record guest preferences, dietary requirements, special requests, and relevant notes accurately.
• Communicate reservation changes, VIP details, and guest information clearly to the reception and floor teams.

Reception Operations

• Respond professionally to guest enquiries regarding reservations, operating hours, venue information, and general requests.
• Maintain a polished, organised, and welcoming reception area at all times.
• Support the accuracy and maintenance of guest profiles and database records.
• Assist the Reception Manager with administrative and operational tasks related to reservations and guest management.

Team Coordination & Communication

• Maintain clear and effective communication with the Reception Manager and wider operational team.
• Ensure relevant teams are informed of VIP arrivals, special requests, celebrations, and other important guest details.
• Support seamless guest flow and efficient coordination between reception and floor operations.
• Work closely with waiters, bartenders, management, and other team members to deliver a consistent and elevated guest experience.

Standards & Professional Conduct

• Maintain impeccable grooming, presentation, and personal hygiene standards at all times.
• Arrive punctually, fully prepared, and ready to deliver service to the required standard.
• Demonstrate discretion, professionalism, and courtesy in all guest and team interactions.
• Adhere to company policies, operational procedures, and established service standards.
• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding guest information, reservations, and company operations.
