The Healthcare Assistant works under the supervision of a licensed healthcare professional and contributes to safe, efficient, and patient-centered care in line with established clinical standards and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivering direct patient care, including supporting activities of daily living such as hygiene, mobility, and comfort.
• Record and monitor patient vital signs, perform point-of-care testing, and support basic clinical procedures (as trained).
• Assist healthcare professionals during examinations, treatments, and minor procedures, including specimen collection.
• Ensure adherence to infection control protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment and sterilization processes.
• Support accurate documentation and data entry in the electronic medical record system.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care coordination.
• Perform basic administrative duties such as patient registration, scheduling, and maintaining stock levels.

Qualifications

• Diploma as a Healthcare Assistant or a relevant field
• 6 months on-the-job clinical placement as a student Healthcare Assistant
• Active license with relevant health authority (DOH/DHA/MOH)
• Heartsaver certification
