Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in the related subject with PGCE or equivalent.
• Minimum 3–5 years teaching within the British Curriculum with leadership/coordination experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide dynamic leadership for the Science Department and deliver high-quality lessons that inspire students to succeed and achieve strong academic outcomes.
• Lead planning of engaging practical-led Science lessons aligned with the British National Curriculum and coordinate collaboration with colleagues and support staff.
• Take overall responsibility for student progress, attainment and examination results across the Science Department and communicate progress to parents and carers.
• Enforce the school's behaviour and safety policies in laboratory and classroom settings and act as a positive role model for pupils.
• Lead curriculum development and organize STEM events and activities, working with parents and external partners as needed.
• Manage duties and line management responsibilities as directed within school policy.

Responsibilities

• To provide dynamic leadership for the Science Department and deliver high-quality lessons that inspire students to succeed achieving the best possible academic outcomes

Roles and responsibilities include

• Be committed to developing positive relationships with all members of the school community
• Working alongside fellow teachers and technicians to plan engaging practical-led Science lessons that meet the requirements of the British National Curriculum
• Liaising with colleagues leading departmental collaboration and working flexibly to uphold high academic standards
• Working with parents to ensure the happiness safety and best academic outcomes for all children
• Working cooperatively with curriculum support staff lab technicians and inclusion teams to support children s development

Teaching and learning

• Clear understanding of the Curriculum
• Organising the classroom provision and learning resources and creating displays to encourage a positive and engaging learning environment
• Planning preparing and presenting sessions that cater for the needs of the whole ability range within the class
• Motivating pupils with enthusiastic imaginative teaching
• Observing and assessing children in line with school assessments
• Being reflective of the classroom provision sessions taught progress made and adjusting environment planning and curriculum to reflect this
• Meeting with other professionals such as speech and language therapists occupational therapists and educational psychologists if required

Assessment and data

• Taking overall responsibility for student progress attainment and examination results across the Science Department
• Meeting requirements for the assessment and recording of student development using school tracking software such as Target Tracker or equivalent systems
• Using data provided by baseline and internal assessments to influence further planning targeted intervention and departmental improvement strategies
• Providing detailed feedback to parents and carers on student progress at Parent Teacher Conferences exam information evenings and other meetings

Behaviour management and duties

• Follow and enforce the school s behaviour and laboratory safety policies
• Manage classes effectively using approaches which are appropriate to students needs in order to inspire motivate and challenge pupils in a safe lab environment
• Maintain good relationships with pupils exercise appropriate authority and act decisively when necessary within the school s behavioural policy
• Be a positive role model and demonstrate consistently the positive attitudes values and leadership expected of staff and pupils
• Have high expectations of behaviour promoting self-control scientific curiosity and independence in all learners
• Carry out duties and line management responsibilities as directed and within the school s policy

Wider professional responsibilities

• To lead the Science curriculum action group department driving strategic planning assessment resource allocation and special STEM events linked to the team
• Support organize and take part in school events science fairs external competitions and outings which may take place at weekends or in the evening
• Communicate effectively with parents carers with regards to student achievements practical endorsements and well-being using school systems processes such as CPOMS as appropriate
• Make a positive contribution to the wider life middle leadership team and ethos of the school
• Run a weekly ECA each term such as Science Club or STEM initiatives

• Bachelor s Degree in the related subject with PGCE or other teacher qualification

Minimum Experience

• Minimum 3 5 years Teaching experience within the British Curriculum with proven leadership or coordination experience
