Job summary

Etihad Airways seeks a strategic Head of Corporate OSH to lead the corporate Health and Safety framework across offices, facilities, projects and contractors. You will drive governance, risk management, audits, incident investigations and continuous improvement to build a strong safety culture.

You will set strategy, manage a team and report to executives, aligning with UAE regulations and international standards such as ISO 45001/ISO 14001.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in HSE with leadership of multi-site teams
• Experience in highly regulated/high-hazard industries
• Track record in governance: systems, risk, assurance, investigations
• Strong knowledge of OSH legislation and ISO 45001/ISO 14001

Responsibilities

• Set corporate HSE strategy and policies aligned with standards.
• Own corporate risk register and manage change controls.
• Lead risk-based audits and inspections across units and contractors.
• Oversee incident investigations and root cause analysis for lessons learned.
• Define HSE requirements for contractor selection and performance.
• Ensure emergency readiness and crisis management linkage.
• Develop dashboards and KPIs for executive/board reporting.
• Lead and develop an HSE team and promote hazard reporting culture.

The role synopsis

As the Head of Corporate OSH,you will provide strategic leadership, governance and assurance for the Company's corporate Health and Safety (OSH) framework across offices, facilities, projects, maintenance/support activities, contractors and other company-controlled operations for Etihad Aviation Group. The role ensures regulatory compliance, effective risk management, strong safety culture, setting departmental & individual objectives, developing & motivating staff performance and continuous improvement.

What you'll do

• Strategy and system: Set the corporate HSE strategy, policies and annual improvement plan, and run a management system aligned with OSHAD-SF, UAE Civil Defence requirements, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
• Critical risk: Own the corporate risk register, test whether controls work, and lead management of change.
• Assurance: Run a risk-based audit and inspection programme across business units, facilities and contractors.
• Incidents: Oversee investigation and root-cause analysis, and make sure lessons change how work is done.
• Contractors: Set HSE requirements for selection, mobilisation, monitoring and performance.
• Emergency readiness: Maintain emergency preparedness and its links to crisis management and business continuity.
• Reporting: Build the dashboards, leading and lagging indicators, and trend analysis that go to executives and the Board.
• Culture and team: Lead and develop an HSE team, and strengthen leadership engagement and proactive hazard reporting.

Qualifications

What you'll bring

• 15+ years in HSE, including at least 7 leading teams, in a high-hazard, highly regulated industry such as aviation, oil and gas, infrastructure or transport.
• Experience leading a multi-site, multicultural HSE organisation and managing a departmental budget.
• A track record in corporate HSE governance: management systems, risk management, assurance and incident investigation.
• Strong knowledge of OSH legislation, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
• A bachelor's degree in engineering, HSE, environmental science, occupational health or a related discipline.
• A recognised professional HSE qualification; NEBOSH Diploma, CSP or CMIOSH preferred.
