Role Context

The Head Nurse will provide clinical direction and operational control for the nursing team within a busy outpatient environment. The role combines direct patient-care oversight with workforce planning, clinical governance, staff coaching, quality monitoring, and multidisciplinary coordination. Effective leadership will help maintain safe treatment standards, efficient patient flow, reliable documentation, and a compassionate experience for patients and families.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and support registered nurses and other assigned clinical team members.
• Allocate nurses according to appointment demand, physician schedules, patient needs, and clinical priorities.
• Prepare duty rosters and maintain suitable staffing coverage throughout clinic operating hours.
• Monitor nursing workflows and adjust daily assignments when patient volumes or service requirements change.
• Coach team members through regular feedback, mentoring, and practical clinical guidance.
• Support nursing recruitment, onboarding, orientation, competency assessment, and professional development.
• Identify skill gaps and coordinate suitable training, certification, and improvement plans.
• Review team performance and address conduct, attendance, quality, or productivity concerns appropriately.
• Promote respectful teamwork between nurses, physicians, allied health professionals, and administrative staff.
• Ensure nursing care is safe, evidence-based, timely, and aligned with approved clinical protocols.
• Support physicians during consultations, examinations, treatments, and minor clinical procedures.
• Oversee medication handling, administration, storage, reconciliation, and related documentation.
• Maintain compliance with DHA regulations, infection-control standards, patient-safety requirements, and clinic policies.
• Verify that nursing records, consent documentation, observations, and treatment notes are accurate and complete.
• Monitor clinical quality indicators and support departmental performance targets.
• Participate in audits, accreditation preparation, incident reviews, and corrective-action planning.
• Respond to clinical incidents promptly and escalate patient-safety concerns through the appropriate channels.
• Promote infection prevention through hand hygiene, environmental controls, equipment practices, and staff education.
• Ensure emergency equipment, medication supplies, and nursing resources remain available and ready for use.
• Support chronic disease management, preventive care, patient education, and continuity planning.
• Communicate clearly with patients and families in Arabic and English regarding care instructions and follow-up needs.
• Protect patient privacy, dignity, cultural preferences, and confidentiality throughout every interaction.
• Address patient concerns professionally and help resolve service or clinical issues before they escape.
• Use electronic medical record systems accurately and encourage consistent digital documentation across the team.
• Review operational processes and recommend improvements that strengthen efficiency, safety, and patient experience.
• Contribute to a positive clinic culture focused on accountability, compassion, and continuous improvement.

Ideal Profile

The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and maintain a valid DHA licence as a Registered Nurse. Applicants must have at least five years of clinical nursing experience, including a minimum of two years in a leadership position such as Head Nurse, Charge Nurse, Nurse Supervisor, Team Leader, Nurse Manager, or Clinic Nurse Lead. Previous healthcare experience in the UAE is required. Background in outpatient clinics, ambulatory care, primary care, family medicine, specialist clinics, or multidisciplinary medical centres will be strongly preferred.

BLS certification is mandatory. ACLS or PALS certification would be an advantage.

Candidates should also have practical experience managing staff rosters, clinic workflows, nursing documentation, clinical performance indicators, and quality-improvement activities. Fluent Arabic and English communication is mandatory. The role requires confident leadership, sound clinical judgment, strong organization, computer literacy, and experience working with electronic medical record systems.
