Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and implementation of water and wastewater treatment processes for infrastructure and environmental engineering projects.
- Support the development of process flow diagrams, mass balances, and process unit sizing to improve treatment plant performance.
- Prepare process and instrumentation diagrams, process control philosophies, and hydraulic calculations for gravity and pumped systems.
- Provide technical inputs for design specifications, HAZOP studies, and engineering design reviews.
- Represent the design team in technical discussions with internal teams, senior engineers, project managers, and external stakeholders.
- Prepare process descriptions, reports, manuals, calculations, and supporting engineering documentation.
- Help project teams deliver solutions that meet regulatory, environmental, health, safety, and client requirements.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to execute assigned tasks, review design information, and meet project deadlines.
- Support operational troubleshooting by reviewing process issues and recommending practical improvements.
- Assist in optimizing process designs to improve efficiency, reduce cost, maintain compliance, and support long-term plant reliability.
- Learn current technologies, treatment methods, and industry developments within the water and wastewater sector.
- Participate in AECOM's ADVANCE program activities to build technical, business, and professional skills.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Recent graduate or graduate entry-level candidate interested in water, wastewater, and environmental infrastructure design.
- Familiarity with engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar tools.
- Strong interest in process engineering, hydraulic calculations, water treatment plants, wastewater systems, and sustainable infrastructure.
- Able to work effectively in a team environment with senior engineers, project managers, designers, and technical specialists.
- Good analytical ability with willingness to learn process sizing, mass balance development, design reviews, and technical documentation.
- Organized approach to completing assigned work within project schedules, quality expectations, and supervision requirements.
- Good communication skills for preparing reports, supporting design reviews, and contributing to project discussions.
