Job summary

Baker Hughes is seeking a Global Electrical Field Services Engineer to join the BRUSH team. You will be responsible for commissioning, installing, repairing and upgrading large rotating electrical machines and their control equipment at client sites worldwide.

The role requires 5 years in electrical power generation and distribution, an accredited electrical qualification, and willingness to spend substantial time overseas. Fluent English is essential.

Qualifications

• Have 5 years of experience in electrical power generation and distribution systems.
• Accredited electrical or electronic qualification.
• Willing to undertake extensive overseas and offshore work—roughly 29 weeks per annum.

Responsibilities

• Commissioning, installation, repair, maintenance and upgrading of large rotating electrical machines and their control equipment.
• Upgrade AVRs, PMS systems, synchronisers and protection relays; adjust related control elements.
• Perform electrical testing on high and low voltage equipment and machine windings on site.
• Deliver training on Brush Power Gen products to clients and field service colleagues.
• Interpret drawings, specifications and technical requirements; attend on-site meetings with clients.
• Prepare method statements and risk assessments for client sites when needed.
• Assist mechanical service engineers on assignments, including electrical-related tasks.

As a Global Electrical Field Services Engineer you will be responsible for:

• Commissioning HV Generators Motors Synchronous condensers Power management systems (PMS) Electrical protection systems Excitation Controllers (AVRs) and Synchronising equipment.
• Conducting upgrades to AVRS PMS systems Synchronisers Protection relays and other control elements.
• Carrying out electrical testing on high and low voltage equipment and machine windings in the field.
• Delivering training on Brush Power Gen products to clients and field service colleagues.
• Interpreting technical drawings specifications and technical requirements. Attend technical meetings on site and at customers premises.
• Preparing method statements and risk assessments in relation to client sites where needed.
• Assisting mechanical service engineer(s) on assignments which will not necessarily involve electrical related activities.

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have an accredited Electrical or Electronic qualification or relevant experience
• Have knowledge of networking systems. Such as Modbus Ethernet 61850 Fibre would be advantageous
• Have knowledge of concepts practices and procedures of Health Safety & Environment
• Have 5 years of experience in electrical power generation and distribution systems
• Be Self-reliant resourceful and a problem solver with well-developed commercial awareness
• Be an effective communicator fluent in both spoken and written English.
• Able to undertake extensive overseas and offshore working - working away approximately 29 weeks per annum
• Have experience in dealing with external stakeholders on site and operating remotely on own initiative
• Be a good team player with the ability to work independently
