Job summary

Baker Hughes is seeking an Electrical Field Services Engineer to join our Global BRUSH Team in Abu Dhabi. You will commission and upgrade large rotating electrical machines, perform on-site electrical tests, and deliver technical training to clients and field staff.

The role requires extensive overseas time and strong English communication. Candidates should have an accredited electrical qualification, experience with protection relays, AVRs, and network systems, plus a solid HSE mindset.

Qualifications

• Accredited Electrical or Electronic qualification or relevant experience.
• Knowledge of networking systems (Modbus, Ethernet, 61850; Fibre advantageous).
• Awareness of Health, Safety & Environment concepts and practices.

Responsibilities

• Commissioning HV generators, motors, and associated control equipment on site.
• Conduct upgrades to AVRs, PMS, synchronisers and protection relays.
• Perform electrical testing on high/low voltage equipment and windings in the field.
• Deliver product training to clients and field colleagues.
• Interpret technical drawings and attend on-site meetings at customer premises.

• Commissioning HV Generators, Motors, Synchronous condensers, Power management systems (PMS), Electrical protection systems, Excitation Controllers (AVRs), and Synchronising equipment.
• Conducting upgrades to AVRS, PMS systems, Synchronisers, Protection relays and other control elements.
• Carrying out electrical testing on high and low voltage equipment and machine windings in the field.
• Delivering training on Brush Power Gen products to clients and field service colleagues.
• Interpreting technical drawings, specifications and technical requirements. Attend technical meetings on site and at customers’ premises.
• Preparing method statements and risk assessments in relation to client sites where needed.
• Assisting mechanical service engineer(s) on assignments, which will not necessarily involve electrical related activities.

Fuel your passionTo be successful in this role you will:

• Have an accredited Electrical or Electronic qualification or relevant experience
• Have knowledge of networking systems. Such as, Modbus, Ethernet, 61850, Fibre would be advantageous
• Have knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures of Health, Safety & Environment
• Have 5+ years of experience in electrical power generation and distribution systems
• Be Self-reliant, resourceful and a problem solver with well-developed commercial awareness
• Be an effective communicator, fluent in both spoken and written English.
• Able to undertake extensive overseas and offshore working - working away approximately 29 weeks per annum
• Have experience in dealing with external stakeholders on site and operating remotely on own initiative
• Be a good team player with the ability to work independently
