Job summary

Baker Hughes in the United Arab Emirates seeks a Global Electrical Field Services Engineer to commission, upgrade, and test large electrical machines and their control equipment on-site at client locations. You will work on HV generators, PMS, AVRs, protection relays and related systems, with extensive overseas assignments.

Ideal candidates will have accredited electrical/ electronic qualifications, strong English communication, and the ability to travel approximately 29 weeks per year.

Qualifications

• Accredited electrical or electronic qualification or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of Modbus Ethernet 61850 Fibre is advantageous.
• Experience with high/low voltage equipment and field testing.
• Strong safety, environmental awareness and English communication.

Responsibilities

• Commissioning HV Generators Motors Synchronous condensers Power management systems (PMS) Electrical protection systems Excitation Controllers (AVRs) and Synchronising equipment.
• Conducting upgrades to AVRS PMS systems Synchronisers Protection relays and other control elements.
• Carrying out electrical testing on high and low voltage equipment and machine windings in the field.
• Delivering training on Brush Power Gen products to clients and field service colleagues.
• Interpreting technical drawings specifications and technical requirements. Attend technical meetings on site and at customers premises.
• Preparing method statements and risk assessments in relation to client sites where needed.
• Assisting mechanical service engineer(s) on assignments which will not necessarily involve electrical related activities.

As a Global Electrical Field Services Engineer you will be responsible for:

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have an accredited Electrical or Electronic qualification or relevant experience
• Have knowledge of networking systems. Such as Modbus Ethernet 61850 Fibre would be advantageous
• Have knowledge of concepts practices and procedures of Health Safety & Environment
• Have 5 years of experience in electrical power generation and distribution systems
• Be Self-reliant resourceful and a problem solver with well-developed commercial awareness
• Be an effective communicator fluent in both spoken and written English.
• Able to undertake extensive overseas and offshore working - working away approximately 29 weeks per annum
• Have experience in dealing with external stakeholders on site and operating remotely on own initiative
• Be a good team player with the ability to work independently
