Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Abu Dhabi team. You will apply technical expertise to develop innovative geotechnical solutions for complex projects and work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality results that meet specifications.

The role involves geotechnical investigations, design work (settlement, retaining walls, foundations, earthworks, slope stability) and mentoring junior staff. Willingness to travel to project sites is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related discipline (honors preferred).
• Minimum 3-5 years of professional geotechnical investigation and design experience post-undergraduate.
• Proficiency with geotechnical software including GEO5, WALLAP, ALP, SlopeW/Slide and Plaxis.
• Competency in AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D for technical drawing and design documentation.
• Strong knowledge of soil and rock mechanics; experience in settlement analysis, retaining walls, foundations, earthworks, slope stability.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with ability to prepare technical documentation.
• Professional Engineer registration or Chartered status desirable.

Responsibilities

• Apply geotechnical principles to analyze and solve challenges with precision.
• Conduct geotechnical investigations and interpret field data to guide design decisions.
• Monitor geotechnical field activities to ensure compliance with standards.
• Prepare and review desk studies, interpretative reports, specs, drawings and design reports.
• Perform design tasks including settlement analysis, retaining walls, foundations, earthworks and slope stability.
• Use geotechnical software to develop and validate designs.
• Coordinate with contractors and stakeholders to meet client expectations and timelines.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to project documentation.
