General Repair Technician – BYD EV in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is an automotive opportunity to service BYD electric vehicles while maintaining manufacturer requirements, EV safety procedures, and workshop quality standards. The technician will perform routine maintenance, inspections, diagnostics and general repair work on BYD electric vehicles, ensuring safety and first‑time repair performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspection, diagnostics, and general repair work on BYD electric vehicles.
• Complete assigned repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications and approved workshop procedures.
• Follow electric vehicle safety requirements before working on high‑voltage or related vehicle systems.
• Conduct mechanical and electronic checks to identify faults affecting vehicle performance.
• Use diagnostic equipment, scan tools, and technical information to support accurate fault identification.
• Follow workshop manuals, wiring diagrams, service bulletins, and repair instructions.
• Carry out component removal, installation, adjustment, and replacement within the technician’s approved competence level.
• Inspect braking, steering, suspension, cooling, climate‑control, electrical, and drivetrain‑related systems.
• Support Electronic Vehicle Check inspections and record identified defects accurately.
• Prepare clear findings for the Service Advisor and workshop supervisor.
• Report additional repair requirements discovered during inspection or servicing.
• Ensure customer approval is obtained through the appropriate service process before completing additional work.
• Apply Fix It Right and First‑Time‑Right principles to reduce repeat repairs.
• Verify completed work through operational checks, road testing, or approved functional testing procedures.
• Escalate complex diagnostic or high‑voltage faults to qualified specialists when required.
• Complete job cards, repair records, inspection reports, and technician comments accurately.
• Record labour time, repair activity, parts usage, and outstanding recommendations.
• Meet assigned workshop productivity, efficiency, and utilisation targets.
• Manage time effectively so scheduled work is completed within agreed repair timelines.
• Communicate repair progress, technical concerns, and parts requirements to the supervisor.
• Collaborate with other technicians to resolve difficult or recurring vehicle faults.
• Follow workshop quality controls and participate in final vehicle inspections.
• Maintain tools, testing equipment, and assigned workshop resources in good condition.
• Observe 5S standards to keep the work area clean, organised, and efficient.
• Comply with health, safety, environmental, and electric vehicle workshop requirements.
• Use personal protective equipment and approved insulated tools where required.
• Handle oils, fluids, batteries, components, and controlled materials according to environmental procedures.
• Protect customer vehicles from damage, contamination, or unnecessary movement.
• Maintain a professional workshop environment and respectful working relationships.
• Attend technical training covering BYD products, EV systems, diagnostics, and updated repair procedures.
• Continuously develop knowledge of battery‑electric vehicles, hybrid systems, charging technology, and connected vehicle features.
• Support the aftersales team in delivering dependable service and high customer satisfaction.

Ideal Profile

• Diploma, ITI, NCVT, ITC, trade certificate, or an equivalent automotive technical qualification.
• Between 2 and 3 years of experience as an Automotive Technician, Diagnostic Technician, or General Repair Technician.
• Practical experience in vehicle maintenance, inspection, diagnostics, and component repair.
• Strong understanding of automotive mechanical and electrical systems.
• Ability to identify basic faults using diagnostic equipment and structured troubleshooting procedures.
• Experience following workshop manuals, technical bulletins, wiring diagrams, and repair instructions.
• Good mechanical aptitude and confidence using automotive tools and workshop equipment.
• Strong attention to detail when inspecting, repairing, and testing vehicles.
• Ability to achieve quality repairs while meeting productivity and utilisation requirements.
• Understanding of workshop health, safety, quality, and 5S practices.
• Electric or hybrid vehicle experience would be advantageous.
• Previous exposure to high‑voltage vehicle safety procedures is beneficial.
• Interest in learning battery technology, electric drivetrains, and modern mobility systems.
• Ability to work effectively with supervisors, service advisors, parts teams, and other technicians.
• Good English communication skills for technical reporting and workshop coordination.
• UAE driving licence would be an advantage.
• Responsible, safety‑conscious, and customer‑focused working approach.
