Responsibilities

  • Provide surgical care in OR and OPD for gynecologic and obstetric conditions (emergency and planned).
  • Cover Delivery Room: admit patients, review history, plan actions, perform deliveries.
  • Cover Emergency Service and respond to consultations.
  • Perform and interpret ultrasound examinations in hospital and OPD.
  • Interpret fetal heart rate monitoring and take appropriate action.
  • Carry out formal and informal consultations with other services.
  • Interact with families to inform them of patient condition and plans.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold standards of care.
  • Provide on‑call emergency coverage for obstetric emergencies.

General Practitioner (OBG)
Job Description

Will perform professional duties as a specialist obstetrician/gynecologist to include:

  1. Providing surgical care both in the operating room and in the O.P.D. for gynecologic and obstetric conditions for both emergency and planned procedures.
  1. Covering the Delivery Room to include admitting patients, reviewing their history, planning a course of action, performing both spontaneous and operative deliveries, and interacting with midwives.
  1. Covering the Emergency Service by promptly responding to calls for consultation.
  1. Doing and interpreting ultrasound examinations both in hospital and on an out-patient basis.
  1. Interpreting fetal heart rate monitoring and taking appropriate action.
  1. Carrying out formal and informal consultations from physicians on other Services.
  1. Interacting with patients’ families to keep them informed of the patient’s condition, changes in condition and plans.
  1. Supports Continuous Quality Improvement. Develops and promotes appropriate standards of care.
  1. Works closely with other HODs in developing policies and procedures to promote quality health care.
  1. Makes recommendations for patient transfers to other medical facilities if and when required.
  1. Keeps the Division Head well informed of Department activities and receives guidance from the Division Head in the accomplishment of his duties.
  1. Exercises effective interpersonal skills in dealings with the staff, with associates and with Management.
  1. Maintains confidentiality regarding patient information and regarding administrative matters of a confidential nature.
  1. Evidences dependability in carrying out the commitments and obligations of the position.
  1. Provides on‑call emergency coverage for obstetric emergencies.
  1. Performs other miscellaneous related duties as requested.
  1. To follow appropriate international guidelines, DHA regulations & Joint Commission International norms while treating or managing patients as well as while discharging their professional duties.

Qualifications
  1. Graduation from an approved Medical School. Completion of an approved Obstetric residency program consistent with established standards of the NMCSH, Dubai with specialty certification in the country of training.
  1. At least five to ten years experience as a full‑time Ob‑Gynecological practitioner.
  1. Must have a thorough knowledge of medical ethics, with particular reference to the obligation to maintain the confidentiality of his work; personality which inspires confidence and trust in his patients; and adhere to Bylaws, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Organization.
  1. Current licensure in country of origin and with DHA license to practice in Dubai, UAE.
  1. Excellent command of oral and written English. Knowledge of Arabic language is desirable but not essential.
  1. Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co‑workers, superiors, patients & families.
