Job summary

Arootah is seeking a senior Controller to supervise accounting, financial reporting, and treasury for an alternative asset firm in Dubai. You will manage month-end closing, payroll controls, budgeting, liquidity forecasting, and regulatory filings, ensuring GAAP compliance and strong internal controls.

Ideal candidates have 6+ years as a Controller in the alt asset space, 4+ years in related finance roles, CPA is a plus, and expert Excel skills to support accurate financial modelling and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or Business Administration.
• 6+ years of Controller experience in an Alternative Asset Firm or Family Office.
• 4+ years in a financial capacity within an Alternative Asset Firm, Family Office or Big 4.
• Strong cash/working capital management and forecasting abilities.
• Solid GAAP knowledge and technical accounting skills.
• Proficiency in Excel and QuickBooks.
• Understanding of financial instruments, investments and tax regulations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain financial records with external accounting firms and CFO.
• Prepare financial statements including income statements and balance sheets.
• Control and review payroll processing systems for accuracy.
• Manage the month-end close process.
• Enhance reporting efficiency through data analysis.
• Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable.
• Provide budget versus actual reporting and liquidity forecasts to senior leadership.
• Build pro forma models to assess decisions.

• Maintain financial records through collaboration with external accounting companies and the CFO
• Prepare financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and tax returns
• Control and review payroll processing systems for accuracy
• Manage the month-end close process
• Enhance operational efficiency of financial reporting through data analysis
• Manage accounts receivables and payables
• Provide senior leadership with budget versus actual reporting and liquidity forecasts
• Build pro forma financial models to predict the impact of potential decisions
• Lead audit and tax processes by working with external auditors
• Assist with quarterly and annual SEC and regulatory reporting/filings
• Implement policies, procedures, and control measures

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or Business Administration
• 6+ years of experience as a Controller for an Alternative Asset Firm or Family Office
• 4+ years of experience in a financial capacity with an Alternative Asset Firm, Family Office, or Big 4 accounting firm
• Extensive experience with cash/working capital management and forecasting
• Strong technical accounting skills and GAAP knowledge
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software like QuickBooks
• In-depth understanding of financial instruments, investment types, and tax regulations
