With some of our exciting launches such as Burj Azizi (the second tallest tower in the world), Monaco Mansions and Azizi Venice – Dubai’s new luxurious Venetian‑inspired waterfront community, we are rapidly expanding our onsite Supervision team based at Dubai.
As a Senior Structural Engineer – Formwork, you will be responsible for the engineering design, structural analysis, verification, and technical management of self‑climbing formwork, crane‑supported climbing formwork systems, proprietary formwork systems, and bespoke temporary works and formwork solutions for high‑rise and complex construction projects. You will ensure that all temporary works are structurally safe, economical, buildable, and compliant with project specifications, applicable international engineering standards, and company quality management requirements.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in structural analysis and temporary works engineering, with proven expertise in climbing formwork systems and high‑rise construction. Experience with PERI, Doka, or equivalent systems is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Design self‑climbing formwork, crane‑supported climbing formwork, proprietary and conventional formwork systems.
- Perform structural analysis and prepare detailed calculation reports for temporary works.
- Develop structural models using STAAD Pro or equivalent software and perform finite element analysis where required.
- Verify the structural adequacy and stability of formwork solutions during all construction stages.
- Review and approve engineering calculations prepared by Design Engineers.
- Ensure compliance with applicable international design codes and standards, including BS 5975, EN 12812, EN 12811, relevant Eurocodes, ACI, BS Codes, and other applicable standards.
- Develop and maintain standard engineering calculation templates and methodologies.
- Design temporary works and formwork solutions for high‑rise structures.
- Assess wind load effects on climbing systems and other temporary works.
- Design and verify lifting arrangements and climbing sequences.
- Review shop drawings and fabrication drawings to ensure technical accuracy and constructability.
- Provide technical guidance to Design Engineers and mentor Junior Structural Engineers.
- Standardize engineering practices, calculations, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Site Engineers on engineering requirements.
- Attend technical meetings with consultants, clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Review Requests for Information (RFIs) and provide appropriate engineering responses.
- Review and approve engineering modifications required during construction.
- Provide engineering support during the commissioning and implementation of Jumpform systems.
- Ensure engineering deliverables comply with project specifications and company QMS procedures.
- Review design documentation prior to issue and participate in internal and external technical audits.
- Maintain engineering document control requirements and review lessons learned for continuous improvement.
- Review engineering risks associated with climbing operations and participate in engineering risk assessments.
- Support incident investigations where engineering input is required.
- Promote safe engineering practices throughout design and project execution.
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors, suppliers, clients, and fabrication facilities.
- Coordinate with Procurement regarding engineered materials and technical requirements.
- Support commercial teams with technical proposals and value engineering initiatives.
- Prepare engineering presentations, technical reports, and other engineering documentation.
- Maintain accurate engineering records and prepare value engineering proposals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
- Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering is preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant structural/formwork engineering experience.
- Minimum age 30 years.
- Strong expertise in structural analysis and temporary works engineering.
- Proven experience in self‑climbing formwork and crane‑supported climbing formwork systems.
- Experience with PERI, Doka, or equivalent formwork systems.
- Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete and structural steel design.
- Thorough understanding of temporary works engineering and construction methodology.
- Knowledge of international design codes, including Eurocodes, ACI, BS, BS 5975, EN 12812 and EN 12811, or equivalent.
- Experience in high‑rise building engineering projects is essential.
- Strong knowledge of structural stability and wind load assessment for climbing systems and temporary works.
- Experience in structural modelling using STAAD Pro or equivalent software.
- Knowledge of finite element analysis is preferred.
- Chartered Engineer status is preferred.
- Advanced analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple engineering projects and deliverables.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, MS Project and STAAD Pro.
- Primavera P6 knowledge is preferred.
- Valid driving licence is preferred.
- Good command of English.
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours as required by project requirements.
