Role Context

The Foreman - Jumpform is responsible for controlling critical formwork activities used in high‑rise concrete construction. The position ensures electrically operated automatic climbing systems, hydraulic climbing systems, crane‑supported systems, and conventional formwork are erected, operated, moved, and dismantled safely and in the correct sequence. Reliable supervision at this level directly affects structural safety, concrete cycle times, workforce productivity, system stability, and overall project progress. The foreman works closely with Project Engineers, Formwork Engineering, Structural Engineers, Design Engineers, site teams, and trained formwork crews to ensure all temporary works and climbing activities remain controlled and technically compliant.

  • Plan daily jumpform and climbing formwork activities according to approved construction schedules and engineering requirements.
  • Supervise electrically operated automatic climbing formwork systems during preparation, climbing, repositioning, and securing.
  • Oversee hydraulic climbing systems and crane‑supported climbing formwork operations.
  • Ensure only trained and authorized personnel operate climbing equipment and control systems.
  • Control access to climbing platforms and restricted operating areas.
  • Verify anchors, cones, embedments, and fixing points before the system is connected or loaded.
  • Check that embedded components are installed in the correct position, orientation, and tolerance.
  • Confirm documented concrete‑strength approval before commencing climbing operations.
  • Verify concrete condition before loading anchors or support points.
  • Inspect climbing rails, brackets, platforms, guides, ties, shutters, drives, and supporting components.
  • Check access routes, ladders, working platforms, guardrails, toe boards, and edge protection before operation.
  • Inspect electrical control panels and system operating components.
  • Verify motors, limit switches, sensors, alarms, interlocks, and emergency‑stop functions before each climbing cycle.
  • Complete required pre‑climb checklists before operation.
  • Confirm applicable permits, approvals, and authorizations are in place.
  • Ensure all temporary loads and obstructions are removed before climbing begins.
  • Confirm the system is released in the approved sequence before movement.
  • Maintain synchronized movement throughout electrically or hydraulically powered climbing operations.
  • Monitor system alignment continuously during climbing.
  • Watch for unusual noise, uneven movement, overload indications, mechanical resistance, or abnormal system behavior.
  • Stop climbing activity immediately when an unsafe or abnormal condition is detected.
  • Establish and enforce exclusion zones around climbing operations.
  • Ensure personnel remain clear of restricted areas while the system is moving.
  • Monitor weather conditions and apply approved wind or weather restrictions.
  • Maintain clear communication between operators, supervisors, engineers, and climbing crews throughout each cycle.
  • Record completed climbing operations and inspection results.
  • Document faults, defects, abnormalities, and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate maintenance of defective equipment before further use.
  • Ensure repaired systems are reinspected and approved before returning to operation.
  • Supervise erection of wall, column, slab, beam, and other formwork systems.
  • Control safe use and dismantling of conventional and modular formwork.
  • Verify formwork dimensions, alignment, line, level, support, and stability before concrete placement.
  • Coordinate formwork requirements with structural drawings and approved temporary works designs.
  • Manage manpower allocation for climbing and conventional formwork activities.
  • Assign work according to crew capability, planned sequence, and site priorities.
  • Monitor productivity and take corrective action where planned targets are not being achieved.
  • Ensure required formwork materials, tools, accessories, and components are available.
  • Monitor material usage and prevent avoidable loss or damage.
  • Supervise workmanship and maintain required quality standards.
  • Report delays, incidents, technical deviations, equipment failures, and other site issues to the Project Engineer or Formwork Engineering Manager.
  • Coordinate with Structural and Design Engineers regarding drawing revisions and temporary works requirements.
  • Implement approved engineering changes and ensure crews understand revised instructions.
  • Review structural, architectural, and temporary works drawings before starting activities.
  • Support clarification of site conditions that conflict with approved drawings.
  • Ensure all formwork work follows approved method statements and operating procedures.
  • Enforce project safety requirements during erection, climbing, concreting support, and dismantling activities.
  • Maintain basic site records and daily progress information.
  • Coordinate work around concrete pours and planned climbing cycles.
  • Work flexible hours when required to support critical construction sequences.
Ideal Profile
  • Secondary School, ITI, or Diploma qualification in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant formwork experience.
  • Minimum age of 30 years as specified for the position.
  • Strong practical understanding of high‑rise formwork systems and construction methodology.
  • Hands‑on experience with automatic climbing or jumpform systems.
  • Experience operating or supervising hydraulic climbing formwork.
  • Practical knowledge of crane‑supported climbing systems.
  • Previous exposure to PERI, Doka, or equivalent proprietary formwork systems is advantageous.
  • Training or extensive practical experience in hydraulic climbing systems is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of conventional and modular formwork.
  • Able to read structural drawings accurately.

  • Strong knowledge of anchors, embedments, brackets, climbing rails, platforms, shutters, ties, and related components.
