Job summary

Aj Al Asmawi Group seeks a Fabrication Estimation & Design Engineer for oil field equipment manufacturing. The role centers on precise cost estimation, detailed design input, and cross-functional collaboration with engineers and project teams.

You will review project specs, perform quantity take-offs, manage vendor quotes, and support bids with robust cost breakdowns while adhering to ASME/API standards and integrated management systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Proven experience in cost estimation for steel fabrication.
• Experience with pipe spools, pressure vessels and process equipment.
• Familiarity with fabrication methods, materials and industry standards.
• ASME; API; AWS D1.1 knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review project specifications, drawings, and documents to understand requirements and scope.
• Utilise cost estimation software, historical data, and benchmarks to estimate materials, labor, equipment and other resources.
• Perform quantity take-offs for materials and labor from drawings and specs.
• Obtain quotes and negotiate prices with vendors to ensure competitive pricing.
• Prepare detailed cost breakdowns including material, labor, equipment, overheads and contingencies.
• Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies for costs.
• Collaborate with engineers to identify value engineering opportunities.
• Assist in bids and proposals with accurate estimates and supporting docs.
• Maintain records of estimates and assumptions through the project lifecycle.
• Monitor costs against budgets and report variances to stakeholders.
• Stay updated on industry trends and cost factors to improve estimation processes.

Fabrication Estimation & Design Engineer (Oil Field Equipment Manufacturing)

Project Analysis:

• Review project specifications, drawings, and other relevant documents to understand project requirements and scope.
• Utilise cost estimation software, historical data, and industry benchmarks to estimate the cost of materials, labor, equipment, and other resources required for project execution.
• Perform quantity take-offs for materials and labor based on project drawings and specifications.
• Obtain quotes and negotiate prices with vendors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing for materials and services.
• Prepare detailed cost breakdowns, including material costs, labor costs, equipment costs, overheads, and contingencies.
• Identify and assess potential risks and uncertainties that may impact project costs, and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
• Collaborate with engineers and project teams to identify value engineering opportunities to optimize project costs without compromising quality or performance.
• Assist in the preparation of bids and proposals by providing accurate cost estimates and supporting documentation.
• Maintain accurate records of cost estimates, assumptions, and supporting documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Monitor project costs against budget allocations, identify variances, and provide regular updates to project stakeholders.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, cost factors, and new technologies to continuously improve cost estimation processes and methodologies.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Proven experience in cost estimation, preferably in Steel fabrication industry.
• Experience in: pipe spools, pressure vessels, process equipment, steel structures, skids, baskets, tanks, silos, and batch blenders.
• Proficiency in cost estimation software and tools.
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Knowledge of fabrication methods, materials, and industry standards.
• Knowledge in Integrated management systems.
• ASME; API; AWS D1.1 knowledge.
