Job summary

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Estimation Engineer role based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Estimation Engineer will prepare detailed cost estimates, quantity take-offs, and Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) and technical projects. Responsibilities include reviewing architectural and MEP drawings and specifications using AutoCAD, conducting market research on electrical materials, equipment, and labor costs, and developing competitive proposals. The role involves coordinating with project managers, engineers, and suppliers to validate estimates, clarify scope, and support tender submissions. The Estimation Engineer will also assist in value engineering, track actual project costs against estimates, and update estimation databases to improve future accuracy.

Qualifications

• Strong skills in MEP BOQ preparation and Project Estimation, with the ability to develop accurate cost breakdowns and tender proposals.
• Background in Electrical Engineering, including a solid understanding of electrical systems, wiring, distribution boards, equipment specifications, and local standards (DEWA guidelines).
• Working knowledge and proficiency in AutoCAD for interpreting, reviewing, and scaling MEP and layout drawings.
• Capability in research and data analysis to gather pricing, benchmark costs, and support value engineering recommendations.
• Effective negotiation skills for coordinating with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders on pricing and scope.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, estimation and quantity take-off software, and strong MS Excel skills.
• Attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced project environment.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English; Arabic language skills are an advantage.
• Prior experience in estimation for MEP, construction, or technical services projects in the GCC region is preferred.
