Key Responsibilities
- Deliver lessons that inspire students to succeed and achieve the best possible learning outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with fellow teachers to plan engaging lessons that meet curriculum requirements.
- Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, parents and other members of the school community.
- Build positive relationships across the school and work flexibly with colleagues.
- Work with parents to support children 's happiness, development and academic achievement.
- Collaborate with curriculum support staff where applicable to support student development.
Teaching and Learning
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of the curriculum and its requirements.
- Organize classroom provision, learning resources and displays to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
- Plan, prepare and deliver lessons that address the full range of abilities within the class.
- Motivate students through enthusiastic and imaginative teaching.
- Observe and assess students in line with school assessment practices.
- Reflect on classroom provision, lessons and student progress, adapting the learning environment, planning and curriculum where necessary.
- Work with professionals such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and educational psychologists when required.
- Embed Yas American Academy Teacher and Learner DNA language and attitudes throughout the curriculum.
Assessment and Student Progress
- Take responsibility for the academic progress of assigned classes.
- Meet school requirements for assessing and recording student development using Target Tracker.
- Use assessment data to guide future planning, classroom provision and intervention.
- Provide parents and carers with appropriate feedback on student progress during Parent Teacher Conferences and other meetings.
Behaviour Management
- Follow the school 's behaviour policy consistently.
- Manage classes effectively using approaches appropriate to students ' needs.
- Inspire, motivate and challenge students while maintaining positive relationships.
- Exercise appropriate authority and respond decisively when required within school policy.
- Model the positive attitudes, values and behaviour expected from students.
- Maintain high expectations for behaviour while promoting student self-control and independence.
- Carry out assigned duties in accordance with school policies.
Wider Professional Responsibilities
- Contribute to a curriculum action group, supporting planning, assessment, resources and related special events.
- Help organize and participate in school events, outings and activities, including those that may take place during evenings or weekends.
- Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding student achievement and well-being using school systems and processes, including CPOMS where appropriate.
- Make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school.
- Run a weekly extracurricular activity each term.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor 's degree in the relevant subject.
- B.Ed. or PGCE in Education.
- Experience teaching AP, IB or A-Levels standard.
- Experience in an international school is an advantage.
- Previous experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.
