Job summary

e& UAE in Dubai seeks an Engineer for Core Network Maintenance to ensure reliable operation of the fixed transport network. You will primarily handle DWDM/IP-CORE and GPON elements, perform tests, and rectify faults.

The role requires a degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, strong troubleshooting, and willingness to work in shifts and travel within the zone. Fresh graduates are welcome.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Fresh graduates with telecom operations knowledge incl. Transport, IP Switching, GPON, mobile networks.
• Strong knowledge of fixed transport networks, IP-Core, GPON technologies.
• Hands-on experience with network maintenance tools and troubleshooting.
• Good communication and teamwork, with willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Perform provision/maintenance & fault rectification on core network elements (DWDM/IP-CORE, GPON) per standards.
• Carry out routine/provisioning tasks on Core (OTN/IP CORE Nodes) and Fixed Network elements (GPON).
• Assist in tests using different types of test equipment.
• Implement fault rectification procedures and ensure conformance to standards.
• Maintain records in the section DB and support NOC fault handling and escalation.

Job Description:

The Engineer/Core Network Maintenance role is critical to ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our fixed transport network infrastructure. You will be responsible for a range of activities, including traffic management, network maintenance, and site quality assurance. Your expertise will contribute to the overall reliability and performance of our network, ensuring a seamless experience for our customers.

Responsibilities

• Depending upon the assignment, the jobholder performs all or any of the following provision/ maintenance & fault rectification functions in respectof the assigned Core Network elements- (DWDM/IP-CORE EQUIPMENT/GPON network), ensuring conformance to the prescribed standards and procedures.
• Carries out simple and routine provision/maintenance & fault rectification tasks in respect of the assigned Core(OTN /IP CORE Nodes) and Fixed Network elements (GPON), attends to the assigned major/non-routine tasks independently.
• Assists in carrying out the prescribed routine tests using different types of test equipment.
• Implements the fault rectification procedures of equipment, ensures conformance to the prescribed standards and procedures.
• Support maintenance activities including requisitioning, receiving, acceptance testing, mobilization to work site, handling store issue and utilizatio of spares, tools and equipment.
• Attends and clears faults reported by NOC teams. Furthermore, informs the major faults to superiors for review.
• Assists in locating and clearing Junction F.O Cable Network faults.
• Work in shifts and attend assigned duties including call-out/emergencies.
• To be able to use craft terminal/test equipment to access & localize faults.
• Maintains and updates records in section DB.
• Demonstrates initiative in updating knowledge and skills in respect of the new equipment technology introduced to core networks.
• Undertakes full responsibility of equipment in his work area based on the scope assigned to him.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Fresh graduate with academic knowledge in telecom network operations and maintenance, including Transport, IP Switching, GPON, and Mobile networks.
• Strong knowledge of fixed transport networks, IP-Core, and Access Equipment (GPON) technologies.
• Hands-on experience with network maintenance tools and equipment, including testing and troubleshooting.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex network issues.
• Good understanding of network protocols, routing, and switching concepts.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
• Willingness to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, adapting to changing priorities.
• Valid driving license and ability to travel within the assigned zone as required.
• Proficiency in relevant software and tools for network management and documentation.
