Job summary

SEHA - Abu Dhabi Health Services Co. is seeking a Specialist Physician to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care under the supervision of a Consultant Physician.

The role emphasizes clinical excellence, supervision of junior staff, and participation in training within the Division. The post holder will engage in on-going professional development, contribute to performance management, and support in maintaining comprehensive patient care across inpatient and outpatient settings.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Consultant Physician in supervising the activities of junior medical staff, and jointly assumes responsibility for the care they provide
• Complies with all hospital polices regarding admissions, consultations, daily patient care, surgical procedures, discharge protocols, outpatient and follow up practices
• Practices appropriate utilization of the organization’s resources
• Leads ward rounds; reassesses both inpatients and outpatients on a regular basis, in line with established best practice
• Accurately documents all relevant clinical information in a clear and timely fashion in accordance with established procedures
• Regularly reviews results of all investigations and modifies treatment as required
• Liaises with other medical specialties and support services for additional input as required
• Actively participates in multi-disciplinary meetings to help plan effective, safe and holistic care for individual patients
• Ensures preparation of patients for all procedures including obtaining informed consent
• Accepts clinically appropriate referrals from the Emergency Department, primary care, other departments, specialty clinics, walk in patients, and patients referred from other hospitals
• Participates in and supports the Consultant Physician in ensuring the provision of out of hours on call coverage on a rotational basis including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays as required
• Communicates clinical information to patients and the patient’s family and friends (with consent of the patient) in a timely manner
• Maintains a good working relationship with members of staff and promotes collaboration and a team-based approach to patient care
• Performs other clinical responsibilities as assigned
