Role Context

The Electrician - Hotel Maintenance supports the hotel engineering department by keeping electrical systems, equipment, wiring, controls, lighting, and related installations operating safely and efficiently. The position is essential for protecting guest satisfaction, staff safety, equipment reliability, and building performance through preventive maintenance, timely repairs, shift readings, technical documentation, and emergency response support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain, repair, install, and modify hotel electrical systems and electrical‑related equipment as assigned.
  • Respond immediately to work requests connected to health, safety, fire safety, guest comfort, and operational continuity.
  • Attend guest maintenance requests promptly with a professional, courteous, and service‑focused attitude.
  • Operate, inspect, maintain, and repair electrical equipment to support safe and reliable hotel operations.
  • Follow preventive maintenance schedules and shift‑reading programs to maintain optimum equipment performance.
  • Evaluate equipment usage and respond appropriately to support energy efficiency and safe operating conditions.
  • Complete assigned work orders accurately, carefully, and within required operational timelines.
  • Maintain a daily logbook covering maintenance activities, faults, corrective actions, problems, and solutions.
  • Keep equipment catalogues, tagging directories, technical references, and assigned records updated.
  • Follow safe work practices, lockout expectations, fire procedures, and hotel safety requirements at all times.
  • Maintain health and safety documentation and records for the assigned engineering area.
  • Report and document potential safety hazards, defective equipment, unsafe conditions, and repair priorities.
  • Read and interpret safety procedures, operating instructions, maintenance manuals, technical diagrams, and procedure documents.
  • Prepare routine reports, maintenance notes, and correspondence related to assigned work.
  • Support departmental communication by participating in monthly engineering meetings and offering practical improvement suggestions.
  • Coordinate with colleagues, supervisors, contractors, and operating departments when electrical support is required.
  • Participate in the emergency response team as directed by management.
  • Carry out other reasonable maintenance tasks assigned by the engineering leadership team.
Ideal Profile
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Electrician certification is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of verifiable commercial electrical maintenance experience.
  • Material handling equipment certification is required where applicable.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, maintenance procedures, safety practices, fire procedures, and equipment repair methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret maintenance instructions, safety procedures, technical manuals, operating guides, and diagrams.
  • Able to define technical problems, collect information, establish facts, and draw practical conclusions.
  • Comfortable interpreting technical instructions in written, mathematical, or diagram format.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills for working with guests, colleagues, supervisors, and different hotel departments.
  • Ability to write routine reports and communicate effectively with groups of customers or colleagues.
  • Service‑minded, safety‑conscious, and able to work under pressure during urgent maintenance requests.
