Electrical Maintenance and Troubleshooting

• Supervise and perform scheduled preventive, routine and breakdown maintenance of electrical systems at the Dalma Gas Development plant and associated offshore wellhead towers.


• Carry out maintenance in accordance with SAP PM plans, OEM manuals and Company maintenance strategy.


• Diagnose electrical equipment faults and complete repairs or replacement of defective components.


• Obtain the necessary tools and spare parts and test repaired equipment to verify functionality.


• Supervise electrical technicians and contractor personnel performing planned and breakdown maintenance.


• Verify that installations and maintenance work comply with Company specifications, standards and regulations.


• Complete assigned maintenance activities within established time requirements and inform the Maintenance Supervisor when additional resources are required.

HV, MV and LV Systems

• Issue and control electrical isolation certificates and electrical work permits in accordance with Company safety regulations.


• Perform safe isolation, earthing, proving dead, de-isolation and restoration of electrical systems.


• Work with HV and MV switchgear, transformers, motor control centers, distribution boards and UPS and DC systems.


• Apply required interlocking and inter-tripping arrangements during electrical maintenance activities.


• Maintain electrical equipment associated with gas turbine generators, emergency diesel generators, step-up unit transformers and 33 kV gas insulated switchgear.


• Support maintenance of 11 kV, 6.6 kV and 415 V plant distribution systems.


• Maintain motor control centers, LV bus ducts, distribution transformers, neutral earthing resistors, protection relays and metering systems.

Inspection, Testing and Diagnostics

• Perform insulation resistance and contact resistance testing.


• Verify protection relay functionality.


• Conduct earthing and continuity checks.


• Perform thermographic inspections.


• Carry out hazardous area electrical inspections.


• Verify the condition and performance of electrical equipment following maintenance or modification.


• Record relevant test results for future technical reference.

Commissioning and Start-Up Support

• Support electrical pre-commissioning, commissioning, energization and start-up of new and modified systems.


• Participate in loop checking and functional testing.


• Support FAT and SAT witnessing activities.


• Assist with punch list closure and red-line mark-up of electrical drawings.


• Support the handover of newly commissioned electrical systems from contractors to Operations.


• Follow up on new project requirements, upgraded equipment installations and equipment performance.

Power Restoration and Emergency Systems

Support restoration of electrical supply following partial or total loss of power. Participate in emergency and black start arrangements in coordination with Operations and in accordance with the applicable Power Management System philosophy.

Electrical Control and Monitoring

• Support the Electrical Control and Monitoring System and Power Management System.


• Maintain awareness of load shedding and auto-synchronization schemes and their field interfaces.


• Support the health and availability of ECMS and PMS functions associated with the electrical network.


• Maintain secure and emergency electrical supplies, including UPS systems, battery banks, chargers, AC and DC distribution boards, emergency lighting and essential service supplies.

Motors and Drives

Perform maintenance on HV, MV and LV motors and their associated electrical systems. Support variable frequency and variable speed drives together with applicable control and protection equipment.

Offshore Electrical Systems

• Maintain electrical equipment installed on offshore wellhead towers and platforms.


• Work with 6.6 kV ring main units, distribution transformers and LV switchgear.


• Maintain distribution boards, DC and UPS systems, TUTU and splitter box panels and junction boxes.


• Support electrical supplies associated with wellhead control panels.


• Maintain subsea composite cable terminations.


• Support platform lighting and small power systems.

Supporting Electrical Systems

• Cathodic protection systems.


• Electrical heat tracing.


• Earthing and lightning protection systems.


• Hazardous area electrical installations.

Materials and Maintenance Records

• Identify spare parts and materials required for electrical maintenance and repair.


• Initiate material requisitions for stock replenishment in coordination with the Supervisor.


• Maintain accurate work orders and maintenance logs.


• Record equipment faults, work completed, materials used, manpower and time requirements.


• Maintain equipment test results and supporting maintenance history.


• Contribute to updating maintenance checklists, procedures and guidelines.


• Support development and verification of equipment registers and asset master data for newly commissioned electrical systems.

• Collect technical data from the field and provide inputs for Section progress reports.


• Maintain regular coordination with team members, supervisors, line managers and HSE personnel.

Qualifications and Experience

• Technical Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.


• 6 years of relevant experience maintaining electrical equipment within a large industrial plant, preferably in the Oil and Gas industry.


• Minimum 3 years of experience working with HV and MV systems.


• Minimum 2 years of experience in an offshore environment.


• Proficiency in English.
