The position develops structured maintenance strategies, evaluates equipment performance, resolves chronic technical problems, and ensures maintenance activities are executed to appropriate technical and safety standards. The role also supports modernization of obsolete systems, major shutdown preparation, project commissioning, critical spare parts planning, and adoption of predictive and AI-enabled maintenance technologies. Effective performance contributes directly to reduced downtime, stronger equipment integrity, improved production availability, and optimized lifecycle maintenance cost.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize maintenance programs for electrical and instrument equipment and systems.
- Apply Reliability Centered Maintenance methodologies to improve plant availability and equipment performance.
- Use Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis to identify maintenance priorities and reliability risks.
- Review equipment maintenance strategies and adjust preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance requirements where necessary.
- Develop maintenance execution assurance programs for electrical and instrument systems.
- Monitor maintenance performance and implement corrective improvement plans when required.
- Identify recurring equipment failures and lead structured improvement initiatives.
- Prepare scopes of work for specialist maintenance, troubleshooting, modification, and overhaul activities.
- Conduct technical evaluations of contractors, vendors, service proposals, and maintenance solutions.
- Support establishment of contracts and service orders required for maintenance execution.
- Prepare and review method statements for major maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
- Manage execution of major planned maintenance activities affecting electrical and instrument equipment.
- Review existing maintenance practices and identify opportunities to improve productivity, reliability, and equipment performance.
- Introduce modern maintenance methodologies and technologies where technically and economically justified.
- Lead or support Root Cause Analysis for chronic electrical and instrumentation failures.
- Develop corrective actions addressing underlying causes of recurring equipment problems.
- Provide specialist input for upgrading obsolete electrical and instrument systems.
- Assess existing equipment obsolescence, operational risk, maintainability, and replacement requirements.
- Prepare technical scopes for electrical and instrument system upgrades and modifications.
- Coordinate execution of upgrade and modification works within operating facilities.
- Ensure replacement systems meet applicable technical, operational, safety, and reliability requirements.
- Identify critical tools, test equipment, and spare parts required for safe and reliable plant operation.
- Ensure critical spares are identified early enough to support maintenance and production availability.
- Balance spare parts availability against inventory and lifecycle cost considerations.
- Develop major shutdown maintenance programs for electrical and instrument equipment.
- Integrate discipline maintenance requirements into overall plant turnaround and shutdown plans.
- Coordinate shutdown scope, sequencing, resources, materials, and execution priorities.
- Provide technical support to new projects during development, implementation, commissioning, and handover.
- Review project solutions for maintainability, lifecycle cost, reliability, and compliance with applicable standards.
- Support commissioning activities for new electrical and instrument systems.
- Promote adoption of predictive maintenance technologies for power, control, and instrumentation equipment.
- Evaluate and implement AI-enabled maintenance tools where they can improve reliability and fault prediction.
- Use equipment condition and performance information to identify developing failures before operational impact occurs.
- Support plant reliability and Asset Integrity objectives through disciplined maintenance engineering.
- Maintain regular interface with operations and maintenance teams on field equipment performance and technical issues.
- Provide specialist support for field-related Operations and Maintenance activities.
- Contribute to Facilities Reliability initiatives and implementation of technical standards and guidelines.
- Monitor assigned maintenance and reliability KPIs and coordinate actions required to improve performance.
- Plan, supervise, and coordinate activities within the assigned technical area.

Ideal Profile
The successful candidate should have strong professional experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance within oil and gas, petrochemical, refining, utilities, power generation, or another complex industrial environment. Practical expertise in maintenance strategy development, reliability engineering, shutdown planning, equipment troubleshooting, system upgrades, commissioning, and maintenance performance assurance is important.
