Job summary

MEP Prime Electromechanical Works L.L.C S.P.C in Abu Dhabi, UAE, is seeking an Electrical Estimator for a full-time on-site position at our headquarters. You will review tender drawings, SLDs, and contract documents to produce accurate electrical cost estimates for MEP contracting, fit-out, and infrastructure projects.

You will prepare detailed BOQs and cost build-ups for LV/DB systems, containment, cabling, lighting, and ELV controls, evaluate vendor quotations, and support value engineering

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of hands-on estimation experience in MEP contracting or fit-out projects.
• Strong knowledge of UAE standards and ability to work with procurement and project teams.

Responsibilities

• Review tender drawings, SLDs, specs, and contract docs to prepare electrical cost estimates.
• Prepare detailed BOQs and cost build-ups for LV/DB systems, containment, cabling, lighting, and ELV systems.
• Evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations reflecting UAE market rates with Procurement.
• Assist in value engineering, cost-optimization, and design revisions tracking.
• Prepare bid submittals, rate breakdowns, and support clarifications with clients.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, MEP Design/Site Engineers, and Planning teams to align bid assumptions with constructability.

The company provides fully integrated services spanning engineering design review, technical procurement, installation, testing and commissioning, and lifecycle maintenance.

Role Description

The Electrical Estimator is a full-time, on‑site role based at our headquarters in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

This role is responsible for conducting thorough reviews of tender drawings, single‑line diagrams (SLDs), technical specifications, and contract documents to formulate competitive, technically sound, and accurate electrical cost estimates for MEP contracting, fit‑out, and infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform detailed quantity take‑offs (QTO) from IFC/tender drawings and formulate comprehensive Bills of Quantities (BOQ).
• Prepare detailed cost build‑ups covering LV/SMDB/DB distribution systems, containment, cabling, lighting, small power, earthing, lightning protection, and ELV/fire alarm systems.
• Obtain, evaluate, and normalize vendor and subcontractor quotations, working in close coordination with the Procurement Department to reflect current UAE market rates.
• Assist in value engineering exercises, technical alternatives, and cost‑optimization strategies without compromising project specifications or authority compliance.
• Monitor tender addenda, scope changes, and design revisions, updating cost matrices and variance analyses accordingly.
• Prepare comprehensive technical and commercial bid submittals, rate breakdowns, and support post‑tender clarifications and client negotiations.
• Coordinate cross‑functionally with Project Managers, MEP Design/Site Engineers, and Planning teams to align bid assumptions with constructability and site execution methodology.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Technical Expertise: Proven track record in electrical estimating, cost control, and tendering within MEP contracting, commercial interior fit‑outs, and building services.
• Engineering Foundation: Strong knowledge of UAE local authority regulations and standards (ADDC/AADC, Civil Defense, Estidama, DEWA) and international standards (IEC, BS 7671, NFPA).
• Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (advanced formulas, BOQ models, cost sheets), Odoo, AutoCAD/Revit for quantity take‑offs, and standard electrical estimation tools.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Regional Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of hands‑on estimation experience within MEP contracting or fit‑out projects in Abu Dhabi / UAE or the wider GCC region.
• Analytical & Commercial Acumen: High numerical precision, sharp attention to contractual fine print, and the ability to manage multiple tender deadlines simultaneously.
• Communication: Professional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with suppliers, subcontractors, project teams, and senior management.
