Job summary

Sofitel Dubai The Palm is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our resort engineering team. This on-site role covers electrical, mechanical, and HVAC tasks, with responsibility for guest-focused maintenance and safety compliance.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in hotel maintenance, strong knowledge of LV systems, plumbing, HVAC, and fire safety, plus good English and computer skills. Join our luxury 5-star property on Palm Jumeirah for a dynamic guest-service environment.

Qualifications

• Diploma or technical certificate in electrical, mechanical or HVAC engineering.
• Min 3 years' multi-skilled maintenance experience in hotel or resort preferred.
• Practical knowledge of LV electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC and building management systems.
• Familiarity with fire safety systems and emergency procedures.
• Good spoken and written English; computer literate with maintenance systems.

Responsibilities

• Respond to guest calls and work orders, prioritizing guest-occupied rooms.
• Carry out first-line repairs across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, minor carpentry, locks.
• Perform plant room rounds and record readings for chillers, AHUs/FCUs, pumps, tanks.
• Monitor BMS and fire alarm panel; act immediately on alarms.
• Complete shift logs and handover; supervise contractors during shift.

Job Description

• Respond promptly to guest calls and departmental work orders (e.g. HotSOS); give priority to guest-occupied rooms and villas
• Carry out first-line repairs across trades: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, minor carpentry, locks and general maintenance
• Perform scheduled plant room rounds, recording readings for chillers, AHUs/FCUs, boilers, pumps, water tanks, pools and generators
• Monitor the BMS and fire alarm panel; act immediately on alarms and ...
• Act as a member of the emergency response team: fire, flooding, power failure, lift entrapment and gas leaks
• Check public areas, lighting, signage and pool and beach equipment during rounds; fix or report defects
• Carry out preventive maintenance tasks assigned by the supervisor during quieter periods
• Issue and follow permit-to-work and lock-out/tag-out procedures; supervise contractors working during the shift
• Complete the shift log and give a clear handover to the next shift, including open jobs and recurring issues
• Record energy and water meter readings and support Planet 21 sustainability actions
• Be courteous and discreet with guests when working in rooms and public areas
• Follow Health & Safety, Dubai Civil Defence and Accor standards, and keep tools and the workshop clean
