Job summary

Brighton College Dubai is seeking a Design & Technology DT Technician to support the department with practical lessons and workshop upkeep. You will prepare materials, maintain tools, and assist teachers, ensuring safety and efficient delivery of lessons.

The role requires hands-on experience with tools, the ability to work in a team, and proactive organization in a busy school workshop environment in Dubai. Experience with ICT, CAD tools like Techsoft Design or Fusion 360 is valued.

Qualifications

• Practical and hands-on experience with tools, equipment and materials is desirable.
• Ability to show initiative and to prioritise one’s own work and that of others.
• Ability to work as part of a team and individually.
• Self-motivating with the ability to multi-task.
• Confident in the use of ICT such as Microsoft Office applications; experience with Techsoft Design and Fusion 360 would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare materials as required by the subject teacher prior to lessons.
• Ensure hand tools are kept in optimum condition and stored correctly.
• Organise extra equipment for lessons and regularly maintain equipment and tools in the workshop and classroom areas.
• Empty and clean the dust extraction filters as required by the manufacturer and departmental calendar.
• Keep all classrooms tidy, organised and free from hazards.
• Assist Technology staff in developing appropriate resources for teaching and learning.
• Organise the storage and maintenance of materials and tools in the Department.
• Conduct stock-taking and ordering of materials, ingredients and equipment in conjunction with the Head of Department.
• Organise and catalogue books in the department.
• Assist with the organisation of trips, internal and external competitions and exhibitions involving Design Technology.
• Provide support for the teacher during practical lessons.
• Ensure that all Health and Safety requirements are met under the direction of the Head of Department.
• Support the development and delivery of Computer Aided Design and Manufacture within the department.
• Work as part of a team within the Design and Technology Department.
