Job summary

Fortes Education Sunmarke School in Dubai seeks a Design & Technology Technician (Resistant Materials) to support practical learning across KS3, GCSE and Post-16. You will prepare workshops, maintain machinery, and assist students and teachers with prototyping, CAD/CAM materials, and safety procedures.

The role emphasizes safe workshop operations, stock control, and collaboration with staff to deliver high-quality education in a leading Dubai campus.

Qualifications

• Experience working within a Design & Technology workshop or related environment.
• Good knowledge of workshop tools, machinery, materials and processes.
• Experience preparing materials and resources for practical learning activities.
• Understanding health and safety requirements within workshop environments.
• Strong organisational and stock management skills.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare workshops, machinery, tools, materials and resources for lessons and practical activities.
• Prepare timber, plastics, metals and other materials for student projects.
• Set out equipment, consumables and PPE required for lessons.
• Organise, store and manage student work, project materials and departmental resources.
• Support coursework, assessments, exhibitions and moderation activities.
• Prepare CAD/CAM files and materials for laser cutting, CNC routing and 3D printing.
• Support teachers and students during practical lessons and demonstrations.
• Assist students with manufacturing processes, prototyping, modelling, testing and evaluation.
• Reinforce safe working practices and workshop procedures.
