Role Context The Dry Utilities Inspector will provide continuous field assurance for electrical and telecommunications infrastructure during construction, testing, and commissioning. The role will verify that underground and above-ground utility installations are positioned correctly, constructed using approved materials, protected during civil works, and tested before acceptance. Effective inspection will reduce installation defects, avoid conflicts with other services, and support reliable long-term operation of critical utility networks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect installation of dry utility systems across assigned infrastructure work fronts.
  • Verify electrical and telecommunications infrastructure against approved drawings and specifications.
  • Check utility routes, alignments, elevations, gradients, and clearances before acceptance.
  • Confirm ducts, conduits, chambers, manholes, cable routes, and associated structures are installed in the correct locations.
  • Review construction activities involving underground electrical networks and communications systems.
  • Ensure utility works comply with approved design information and project requirements.
  • Monitor contractor workmanship throughout installation rather than only at final inspection.
  • Verify materials delivered to site are approved and suitable for their intended use.
  • Inspect storage and handling of electrical and utility materials where improper practices could affect quality.
  • Check installation details against approved shop drawings.
