EMIRATES GLOBAL ALUMINIUM (EGA) is seeking a qualified candidate for the role focused on strategic development of operational technical training strategies. Responsibilities include overseeing training programs and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards across EGA.
This role requires significant experience in technical training and strong leadership skills to manage various training initiatives and collaboration with local and international standards setups.
Drive the formulation and implementation of operational technical training strategies that align with EGA s overall strategy, Human Capital and Talent Management, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Compliance. Ensure adherence to all safety, quality, and environmental management policies and procedures within the department to uphold employee safety and regulatory compliance. Ensure all training materials are compliant with internal and external requirements for all operational areas across EGA. Ensure all training programs meet international and local regulatory standards and promote a culture of quality within the technical training team. Liaise with relevant government entities e.g. KHDA and ACTVET to secure recognition for EGA s technical courses and advance the establishment of EGA as a recognized Training Academy.
Oversee the design and management of a comprehensive training curriculum for operational and technical skill development across all Areas of EGA UAE including JA, AT, and ATA operations.
Oversee the thorough training needs analyses to identify and deliver training programs for non-supervisory operational employees and National Trainees.
Lead the design and development of technical and operational training courses and acquire necessary training materials to facilitate cost‑effective delivery.
Implement systems ensuring that 30% of operations employees are prepared for their next roles to minimize operational disruptions due to vacancies.
Manage the Labour Training pool including recruitment and selection, training and deployment into the Areas for approximately 150 employees at any one time.
Manage approximately 140 National Trainees for various training programs on behalf of EGA.
Ensure the availability of suitable training equipment, resources, and qualified personnel across EGA s three sites to meet both short‑ and long‑term manpower development objectives.
Lead the identification and development of modern training tools aligned with Industry 4.0 technologies such as AR, VR, MR, and simulators.
Lead the design and execution of the On‑Job Excellence program with 30 on‑job coaches supporting operations.
Monitor and report on progress of skill upgrades and readiness for new employees.
Prepare and recommend the annual budget for the Technical and Operations Training for EGA, approximately US 4-5M, analysing data to support funding requests on behalf of all of EGA operational areas.
Monitor financial performance against budget, identifying and addressing areas of concern while capitalizing on improvement opportunities.
Collaborate with various plant areas to ensure that training aligns with operational needs, supporting EHS, Emiratisation, Recruitment, and Workforce Planning departments.
Design and implement technical training programs for Graduate and Non‑Graduate National trainees focusing on achieving Emiratisation targets and promoting gender diversity.
Manage the training and development of approximately 180 National Trainees through various programs, ensuring clear career pathways and regular engagement with senior leadership.
Oversee the design, development, and execution of the National Traineeship Program covering all a diverse range of technical requirements across EGA, including Operations, Power, Maintenance, ATA, Casthouse, Administration, Fire & Rescue, and Technical Laboratory Quality.
Coach and mentor the Technical and Operational Training staff to enhance their skills and capabilities.
Provide regular updates to HC management on training plans, progress, and activities, ensuring accurate documentation and timely reporting of critical issues that may impact operations.
The job holder must possess a deep understanding of EGA s operational and technical requirements, training methodologies, operational standards, and industry regulations. This knowledge enables the individual to interpret policies effectively and determine the best approaches to implement them within the training framework.
Working within clearly defined policies and objectives, the job holder is responsible for identifying what needs to be done to achieve organisational‑wide goals. This involves establishing actionable plans, prioritising tasks, and prescribing processes to address training needs. The role requires critical thinking to assess potential risks and devise solutions that align with EGA s strategic objectives.
The decisions made by the job holder can have significant implications for both safety and financial performance within operations. The individual is accountable for ensuring that training initiatives support operational excellence and mitigate risks. This level of responsibility requires a strong commitment to upholding safety standards and delivering results that align with corporate goals.
10–12 years of relevant experience in operations and technical training and development, including at least 3 years in positions with progressively increasing managerial responsibilities.
