Job summary

Six Construct is seeking an experienced Design Manager/Engineering Manager to lead multidisciplinary design activities and coordinate with external consultants for complex buildings and marine infrastructure projects.

The role requires a Master’s in Civil Engineering, 10+ years of design/construction experience, and strong leadership with tender and value engineering expertise. Expect collaboration with clients, authorities, and a multi-cultural team on site-based projects.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineering certification is an advantage.
• Additional qualifications in Project Management or Design Management are beneficial.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in engineering design and construction (design office and site).
• Minimum 5 years in a Design Manager/Engineering Manager or similar leadership role.
• Proven experience managing multidisciplinary design projects (buildings/infrastructure).
• Marine project experience (ports, jetties, quay walls, marinas, waterfronts) required.
• Experience with tenders, design verification, consultant management and value engineering.

Responsibilities

Job description

Responsibilities

• Support the Head of Engineering in the review development and evaluation of tender and project designs
• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary design activities throughout the project lifecycle
• Manage external design consultants and specialist subcontractors ensuring deliverables meet project requirements budgets and schedules
• Review and validate design submissions calculations drawings specifications and technical reports
• Ensure compliance with project requirements applicable codes standards and local authority regulations
• Identify design risks and opportunities and propose mitigation measures and value engineering solutions
• Provide technical support to the Tender Department during bid preparation
• Review FEED documentation and provide feedback on design strategies
• Support quantity take-offs design planning consultant scopes technical clarifications and risk assessments
• Participate in the development of innovative and cost-effective technical solutions that enhance BESIX s competitiveness
• Provide timely technical support to project teams during construction
• Coordinate design reviews technical workshops and stakeholder meetings
• Resolve technical issues arising during execution and ensure alignment with design intent
• Conduct site visits and provide engineering support to ensure compliance with approved designs and specifications
• Liaise with project managers technical managers clients consultants and authorities throughout the project lifecycle
• Ensure all engineering deliverables comply with BESIX QA QC procedures and HSE requirements
• Verify compliance with international design codes and standards including ACI Eurocodes British Standards AASHTO ASTM and relevant local regulations
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and the development of engineering best practices within the department

Qualifications

• Experience in marine projects including ports, jetties, quay walls, marinas, waterfront developments, or coastal infrastructure is required.
• Previous experience with major contractors, engineering consultancies, or design-build organizations is preferred.
• Experience supporting tenders, design verification, consultant management, and value engineering initiatives.
• Strong knowledge of building, infrastructure, and marine engineering design.
• Sound understanding of design management principles and project delivery processes.
• Experience reviewing and coordinating structural, civil, architectural, MEP, and marine engineering disciplines.
• Strong understanding of design verification, constructability reviews, and risk management.
• Proficient in international engineering codes, standards, and local authority requirements.
• Ability to develop practical, buildable, and cost-effective engineering solutions.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
