Job summary

An international education provider in Dubai is seeking a Design and Technology Teacher (Expat) to develop and implement the DP Design Technology curricula. The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of teaching experience, preferably in IB schools, and proven leadership skills. Candidates will be encouraged to incorporate modern technologies and foster an inclusive learning environment. This role promises a dynamic and rewarding teaching experience.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years of teaching experience in Design Technology, preferably in an IB school.

Design and Technology Teacher (Expat)

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate the DP Design Technology curricula, ensuring alignment with IB standards and practices.
  • Oversee the integration of the IB design cycle (inquiry, analysis, solution development, testing, and evaluation) across all year levels. Incorporate modern technologies (e.g., CAD software, 3D printing, robotics, laser cutting) to enhance practical and theoretical learning.
  • Foster professional growth and collaboration. Manage department resources including budgets, equipment (e.g., workshop tools, 3D printers, electronics), and facilities, ensuring a safe and effective learning environment.
  • Teach Design Technology classes to a range of year levels, modeling best practices in inquiry‑based, student‑centered learning.
  • Promote interdisciplinary connections with other subjects (e.g., Sciences, Arts) to address real‑world problems and foster global inter‑connect.
  • Guide students in creating portfolios for university applications and careers in design, engineering, or related fields.
  • Foster an inclusive environment that encourages creativity, empathy, and sustainable design solutions, aligning with IB’s mission.
  • Collaborate with other teachers to align the Design Technology curriculum with the school’s strategic vision.
  • Engage with parents, the school community, and external stakeholders to promote the department’s achievements.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or Masters in Design Technology, Engineering, Product Design.
  • Minimum of 7 years of teaching experience in Design Technology, preferably in an IB school.
  • Proven leadership experience, ideally as a Head of Department or subject coordinator.
  • Expertise in resistant materials, electronics, robotics, CAD software (e.g., Fusion 360), and/or emerging technologies (e.g., 3D printing, laser cutting).
  • Experience with VEX Robotics, Python programming, or other specialized design technology areas is an advantage.
  • Should have experience teaching in International schools in different countries.
