Deployment Engineer (Freelance)

Location: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Fujairah, UAE (Hybrid)

Contract Duration: Initial 6-Month Contract with possibility of extension

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Deployment Engineer to join our team on an initial 6-month freelance contract. This is a hybrid role, offering a combination of onsite and remote work.

As a Deployment Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing software deployments across development, testing, and production environments. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth releases, system stability, and operational excellence.

This role offers the potential for extension beyond the initial contract period, based on project requirements and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and execute application and software deployments across multiple environments.
• Manage release schedules and deployment activities to ensure seamless delivery.
• Collaborate with Development, QA, Infrastructure, and Operations teams throughout the release lifecycle.
• Automate deployment processes and contribute to CI/CD pipeline improvements.
• Monitor deployments and troubleshoot issues during and after releases.
• Support rollback strategies and disaster recovery procedures when required.
• Maintain deployment documentation, release notes, and operational runbooks.
• Ensure compliance with security, governance, and change management standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve deployment efficiency, reliability, and performance.
• Participate in release planning, risk assessment, and post-deployment reviews.

Skills

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience in Deployment Engineering, Release Management, DevOps, or System Administration.
• Strong understanding of software deployment and release management processes.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD,
• Hands-on experience with Git and version control systems.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of Linux and/or Windows server environments.
• Scripting experience with PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in enterprise-scale environments.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
• Experience with monitoring and observability platforms.
• Understanding of ITIL and change management processes.
• Experience supporting highly available production environments.
• Previous experience working within the UAE or GCC region.
