Role Context
The Data Scientist - Cost Management will support digital transformation within quantity surveying and cost management teams by improving how project information is collected, structured, analyzed, reported, and used for decision-making. The role connects construction cost data with modern tools such as Python, SQL, Power BI, BIM platforms, automation scripts, and digital dashboards. By helping teams improve accuracy, reporting speed, workflow consistency, and data visibility, the position contributes to smarter project controls and more efficient delivery of construction and infrastructure assignments in Dubai.
Key Responsibilities
- Support quantity surveying and cost management teams by integrating digital workflows into traditional project delivery processes.
- Help improve cost planning, cost control, value engineering, and project reporting through digital platforms and structured data practices.
- Maintain and update project databases so that cost, quantity, design, and project information remains accurate and accessible.
- Collect, clean, organize, and analyze construction project data to generate practical insights for cost management teams.
- Build information-rich dashboards, reports, templates, and data views using visualization tools such as Power BI or similar platforms.
- Develop digital templates, automation scripts, and workflow tools that reduce repetitive manual tasks and improve team productivity.
- Support the creation and implementation of planned and future digital initiatives across quantity surveying and cost management functions.
- Work with quantity surveyors, engineers, digital specialists, and project teams to ensure consistent adoption of data-driven processes.
- Provide technical support and basic training to team members on digital tools, dashboards, automation workflows, and reporting methods.
- Use Python, SQL, VBA, Dynamo, or similar scripting languages to support automation, data processing, and workflow efficiency.
- Assist with data integrity checks and ensure compliance with company protocols, project standards, and internal data management requirements.
- Review emerging digital technologies and recommend practical improvements that can enhance project delivery and cost decision-making.
- Support cross-functional collaboration by helping teams adopt digital practices in a positive, inclusive, and structured way.
- Communicate analysis findings clearly to project teams, including presenting updates, explaining dashboards, and supporting knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Contribute to a productive team environment by engaging confidently with colleagues across disciplines and seniority levels.
Ideal Profile
- UAE National with a valid family book.
- Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Digital Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- Strong interest in digital innovation within construction, infrastructure, cost management, and project delivery.
- Understanding of construction industry digital tools such as Revit, Navisworks, ACC, Solibri, Aconex, CostX, or similar platforms.
- Advanced skills in Python, SQL, Power BI, data visualization tools, and relevant digital software.
- Experience or academic exposure to automation tools using Dynamo, Python, VBA, or comparable scripting languages.
- Strong analytical thinking with the ability to review data, identify patterns, and produce practical recommendations.
- Good communication skills with confidence to explain digital processes, support colleagues, and occasionally speak to groups.
- Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams handling complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Well-organized approach to time management, documentation, task tracking, and project support.
- Positive team attitude with the confidence to engage, collaborate, and constructively challenge ideas when needed.
