Job Overview
Responsible for enterprise data management, backup and recovery solutions, storage capacity planning, disaster recovery, IT infrastructure governance, and protection of company information assets. Supports business continuity and operational reliability by implementing data management policies, optimizing backup technologies, maintaining recovery procedures, and ensuring critical systems meet service level expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Define the scope of data management projects and manage execution in line with approved objectives, timelines, resources, and business priorities.
- Handle project planning, resource allocation, schedule control, budget tracking, and delivery coordination for data management initiatives.
- Monitor data management operations and optimize processes against agreed service level agreements.
- Liaise with internal teams and external parties to build, test, release, and deploy approved infrastructure and data management changes.
- Understand business expectations and forecast future capacity requirements for assigned IT infrastructure and data management services.
- Analyze business processes and identify how information analysis, KPIs, and reporting can better support management decision‑making.
- Identify operational patterns, data trends, and system usage signals that help the business respond to changing conditions.
- Ensure implemented systems and solutions fulfill project requirements, operational needs, and business expectations.
- Evaluate, implement, and customize backup technologies, recovery tools, storage solutions, and supporting hardware or software.
- Manage backup and recovery operations to ensure business requirements, continuity needs, and production service levels are achieved.
- Review and update policies, procedures, standards, and operating guidelines for enterprise data management.
- Plan storage capacity, forecast growth, conduct performance analysis, and troubleshoot storage, backup, and recovery issues.
- Establish, renew, and manage maintenance and support agreements for data management hardware, software, tools, and packages.
- Simplify server, database, backup, archive, and recovery processes to meet production environment service level requirements.
- Research and implement new technologies, methods, and approaches for backup, archive, recovery, and data protection where applicable.
- Evaluate, test, and implement upgrades or updates to backup, archive, storage, and recovery systems.
- Translate business goals, user needs, and process improvement opportunities into data management functions and technical requirements.
- Evaluate, select, and implement tools, packages, hardware, and software required for successful data management policy execution.
- Formulate and implement enterprise‑wide backup and archive policies to protect company data assets from loss, corruption, or destruction.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans to support business continuity during major system outages, disasters, or high‑impact incidents.
- Provide first‑line support to maintain service availability, user connectivity, and operational continuity.
- Conduct regular audits and verification checks on backup, archive, and recovery activities to ensure compliance with IT Division policies.
- Coordinate with application teams to ensure proper placement, sizing, and performance alignment of data assets.
- Liaise with vendors for product enquiries, issue resolution, tool support, package performance, and technical troubleshooting.
- Supervise assigned activities, coordinate daily work, and ensure functional objectives are met within required standards.
- Train and develop assigned staff on relevant technical skills to improve job proficiency and section performance.
- Provide input for section and department budget preparation and support implementation of approved budgets and work plans.
- Investigate significant budget variances and highlight findings to support performance and cost control.
- Implement approved policies, processes, systems, standards, and procedures in line with company and international requirements.
- Contribute to approved performance objectives for the section or department.
- Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve operational process quality and efficiency.
- Identify internal process improvements against best practices and ISO standards to support smarter and more efficient solutions.
- Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures, controls, sustainability guidelines, and ADNOC Code of Practices.
- Prepare inputs for section MIS reports, progress reports, management updates, and operational performance summaries.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in data management, IT infrastructure, backup administration, archive management, disaster recovery, or enterprise storage operations.
- Strong understanding of enterprise backup, archive, recovery, disaster recovery, storage capacity planning, and production infrastructure support.
- Experience implementing and customizing backup and recovery technologies across enterprise environments.
- Good knowledge of data management policies, procedures, standards, operating guidelines, and IT governance requirements.
- Practical exposure to storage growth forecasting, capacity planning, performance analysis, troubleshooting, and system optimization.
- Ability to evaluate hardware, software, tools, packages, support agreements, and maintenance arrangements for data management environments.
- Experience supporting production systems against service level agreements and business continuity expectations.
- Strong understanding of disaster recovery planning, backup policy formulation, data asset protection, and recovery testing.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with application teams, vendors, consultants, third‑party service providers, government agencies, and internal IT teams.
- Skilled in project planning, resource coordination, budget tracking, schedule control, and operational follow‑up.
- Able to conduct audits and verification checks on backup, archive, and recovery activities.
- Strong analytical ability to interpret business requirements, system performance, KPIs, process gaps, and operational risks.
- Good communication skills with the ability to support users, liaise with vendors, and provide clear management updates.
- Professional certifications related to IT infrastructure, data management, backup, storage, disaster recovery, or project management are advantageous.
- Detail‑focused, process‑oriented, and comfortable working in a structured Oil and Energy technology environment.
