Position Overview

We are looking for a customer‑focused food counter professional with strong service, sales, hygiene, and product presentation skills. The role supports daily food counter operations, helps customers with accurate product guidance, promotes suitable food items and meal solutions, and maintains excellent food safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet customers in a friendly and professional way, creating a welcoming food retail experience.
• Serve customers efficiently at the food counter while ensuring order accuracy and smooth transaction handling.
• Provide clear product information, including ingredients, allergens, preparation details, freshness, offers, and suitable recommendations.
• Promote food products, meal solutions, seasonal items, and complementary products to support sales growth.
• Apply natural upselling and cross‑selling techniques while keeping customer needs at the center of the conversation.
• Maintain food counters, display areas, and merchandising sections so they remain clean, stocked, organized, and visually appealing.
• Replenish products throughout the day to support availability and reduce missed sales opportunities.
• Check product freshness, expiry dates, packaging condition, and quality standards before serving or displaying items.
• Prepare, package, label, and present food products according to company procedures and food handling guidelines.
• Operate POS systems accurately and process cash, card, and other customer payments with care.
• Promote loyalty programs, store campaigns, product tastings, and seasonal offers where applicable.
• Maintain cleanliness of food counters, preparation areas, service equipment, and customer‑facing spaces.
• Support stock receiving, inventory counts, waste tracking, shrinkage control, and stock rotation activities.
• Follow Food Safety, HACCP, Municipality, hygiene, and Health and Safety requirements during daily operations.
• Work toward individual sales, customer service, food quality, and operational KPI targets.
• Assist the store management team with additional duties during peak hours, promotions, stock movements, and store activities.

Ideal Profile

• High School Diploma is required; a hospitality or food‑related qualification is an advantage.
• 2‑4 years of experience in food retail, cafe, bakery, deli, fresh food, hospitality, or a similar customer‑facing food service role.
• Previous experience working at a food counter, food service section, or prepared food environment is preferred.
• Good understanding of food hygiene, safe food handling, HACCP, and local Municipality requirements is an advantage.
• Confident communication skills in English; Arabic language ability is an added advantage.
• Strong customer service approach with a friendly, helpful, and patient personality.
• Ability to provide product information and learn details about ingredients, allergens, promotions, and preparation methods.
• Experience using POS systems and handling cash or card payments.
• Sales‑focused mindset with the ability to promote products without being pushy.
• Strong attention to detail when checking labels, expiry dates, freshness, orders, and payment accuracy.
• Ability to work quickly during busy periods while maintaining food safety and service standards.
• Comfortable standing for extended periods and supporting physical tasks such as replenishment, stock movement, and counter cleaning.
• Positive team attitude with flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
