Cost Control Engineer (Fit-out)

Job summary

Azizi Developments is seeking a cost controller to manage budgets for fit-out projects in Dubai, with strong background in interior contracting or joinery. UAE/GCC experience and Excel proficiency are essential.

You will develop and maintain detailed cost control systems, monitor expenditures, track material, labor, production and subcontractor costs, and provide regular reports to senior management. Strong communication and analytical skills are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
• 5–8 years of relevant cost control experience in fit-out, interior contracting, or joinery.
• UAE or GCC experience is mandatory.
• Strong understanding of fit-out manufacturing and project cost management.
• Proficient in BOQs, budgets, variations, procurement, and cost forecasting.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed project cost control systems, budgets, and cost reports.
• Monitor actual expenditure against approved budgets and committed costs.
• Track material, labor, production, subcontractor, and installation costs.
• Prepare regular cost reports highlighting budget variances, cost trends, and potential risks.
• Analyze project cost performance and recommend corrective actions where required.
• Monitor procurement costs, purchase orders, material consumption, and supplier/subcontractor commitments.
• Coordinate with Estimation, Procurement, Production, Planning, Quantity Surveying, and Project teams to ensure accurate cost monitoring.
• Review BOQs, estimates, budgets, and project scope to establish effective cost-control measures.
• Monitor and evaluate variations, additional works, and change orders, including their cost impact.
• Track material wastage, production efficiency, and resource utilization within the fit-out factory.
• Compare planned versus actual production costs and identify opportunities for cost optimization.
• Assist in preparing project cash-flow forecasts and cost-to-complete projections.
• Maintain accurate records of commitments, accruals, invoices, variations, and project expenditures.
• Prepare cost forecasts and provide early warnings on potential budget overruns.
• Analyze supplier and subcontractor quotations and support commercial evaluations when required.
• Conduct regular reconciliation of project costs with Finance and relevant project teams.
• Support value engineering and identify opportunities to reduce costs without compromising quality or project requirements.
• Prepare management reports and present key cost information to senior management.
• Ensure cost-control procedures are consistently followed throughout the project lifecycle.
• Assist during project handover by ensuring all final costs, variations, and commitments are properly recorded and closed.

• Strong proficiency in MS Excel and cost-control/reporting systems.
• Experience with ERP systems and project management software is an advantage.
• Ability to analyze large volumes of financial and project data accurately.
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
