Role Context
The Consultant - Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery will deliver comprehensive reconstructive and cosmetic care for patients with traumatic injuries, burns, oncologic defects, congenital or acquired deformities, and aesthetic concerns. The role combines technically demanding surgery with patient-focused consultation, aesthetic judgment, and long-term follow-up. Working closely with oncology, orthopaedics, ENT, dermatology, critical care, and other specialties, the consultant will help restore function, appearance, and confidence while maintaining rigorous standards of safety and clinical governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide consultant-level reconstructive and aesthetic surgical services in accordance with international clinical standards.
- Perform complex reconstructive procedures for patients affected by trauma, tissue loss, deformity, or previous surgery.
- Undertake microsurgical procedures and advanced tissue reconstruction where clinically appropriate.
- Manage burns-related reconstruction, scar revision, contracture correction, and functional restoration.
- Perform post-oncologic reconstruction following tumor resection and other cancer-related surgical treatment.
- Deliver facial aesthetic procedures based on individualized anatomical assessment and patient goals.
- Perform breast aesthetic and reconstructive procedures within approved clinical scope.
- Provide body contouring surgery for appropriately selected patients.
- Deliver non-surgical aesthetic treatments where credentialed and clinically indicated.
- Conduct detailed consultations and pre-operative assessments covering medical history, expectations, risks, contraindications, and suitability for intervention.
- Develop individualized surgical plans that balance safety, functional objectives, aesthetic proportions, and realistic patient expectations.
- Provide comprehensive post-operative care, wound management, complication surveillance, and long-term follow-up.
- Manage complex and high-acuity cases in collaboration with oncology, orthopaedics, ENT, dermatology, anesthesia, critical care, and allied healthcare teams.
- Counsel patients clearly regarding treatment options, expected outcomes, recovery, limitations, and potential complications.
- Communicate effectively in Arabic to support informed decision-making and culturally sensitive patient care.
- Maintain professional communication in English within multidisciplinary and clinical documentation environments.
- Ensure compliance with DHA requirements, institutional policies, clinical governance frameworks, infection control standards, and surgical safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate consultation notes, operative reports, consent documentation, treatment plans, and follow-up records.
- Protect patient confidentiality and uphold high standards of ethics and professionalism.
- Contribute to departmental quality improvement, peer review, education, and continuing professional development.
Ideal Profile
- MD, MBBS, or an equivalent recognized medical degree.
- Board Certification or Fellowship in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery.
- Valid DHA Consultant License or eligibility for Consultant registration in Dubai.
- Minimum 5-7 years of post-specialization experience in reconstructive and aesthetic surgery.
- Proven experience performing complex reconstructive procedures.
- Strong expertise in microsurgery, trauma reconstruction, burns reconstruction, and post-oncologic restoration.
- Demonstrated capability across facial, breast, and body aesthetic surgery.
- Practical experience with appropriate non-surgical aesthetic procedures.
- Strong understanding of surgical anatomy, tissue handling, wound healing, scar management, and aesthetic principles.
- Excellent judgment when selecting patients for reconstructive or cosmetic intervention.
- Ability to manage high-acuity cases within multidisciplinary clinical pathways.
- Arabic fluency is mandatory.
- English communication capability is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and counselling skills suited to a diverse, premium healthcare environment.
