Role Context

The Consultant Physician - ENT Head and Neck will provide expert medical and surgical care for patients with disorders affecting the ear, nose, throat, salivary glands, thyroid, airway, voice, swallowing function, and head and neck region. This role requires strong surgical judgment, advanced diagnostic capability, and coordinated work with oncology, radiology, pathology, speech therapy, anesthesia, nursing, and multidisciplinary tumor board teams. By managing complex outpatient, inpatient, emergency, and surgical cases, the consultant will help strengthen ENT and head and neck services while improving patient safety, recovery, and long‑term clinical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage a wide range of ENT and head and neck conditions across outpatient, inpatient, emergency, and surgical care settings.
• Perform advanced surgical procedures involving the ear, nose, throat, salivary glands, thyroid, airway, neck, and related head and neck structures.
• Evaluate and treat patients with head and neck tumors, airway disorders, voice disorders, swallowing disorders, chronic ENT conditions, and complex otolaryngology presentations.
• Conduct endoscopic examinations and use advanced diagnostic techniques to support accurate assessment and treatment planning.
• Manage pre-operative evaluation, surgical planning, intra-operative decision-making, post-operative recovery, and structured follow-up care.
• Collaborate with oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, speech therapists, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other specialists for coordinated management of complex cases.
• Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards, clinical case discussions, treatment planning meetings, and specialist referral reviews.
• Provide emergency ENT consultation and coverage for urgent airway, bleeding, trauma, infection, and acute head and neck presentations when required.
• Supervise and mentor junior physicians, residents, fellows, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals involved in ENT and surgical care.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation, operative reports, consultation notes, consent records, treatment plans, and follow-up recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, patient safety standards, infection control requirements, regulatory expectations, and international clinical standards.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, research activity, teaching, and continuing medical education.
• Support service development in ENT and Head and Neck Surgery through leadership, evidence-based practice, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Ideal Profile

• Medical degree such as MBBS, MD, or equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
• Board certification, CCT, fellowship, or equivalent recognized qualification in Otolaryngology or ENT.
• Fellowship or advanced training in Head and Neck Surgery is preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience practicing as a Consultant ENT Specialist.
• Demonstrated expertise in head and neck surgical procedures, comprehensive ENT care, airway assessment, tumor evaluation, and complex surgical decision-making.
• Western Board Certification such as UK CCT, FRCS, American Board, Canadian Fellowship, Australian Fellowship, or equivalent is preferred.
• Experience in tertiary care hospitals, academic medical centers, or advanced multidisciplinary surgical services is an advantage.
• Eligibility for licensure with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties is preferred for Saudi Arabia‑based clinical service.
• Strong clinical, surgical, diagnostic, communication, documentation, and decision-making skills.
• Proven leadership ability with experience working in multidisciplinary teams and specialist case conferences.
• Research, teaching, publication experience, or academic involvement in ENT and Head and Neck Surgery is highly desirable.
