Role Context

The Consultant - PET CT Radiology will provide specialist interpretation of complex PET CT and hybrid imaging studies for oncology, neurology, cardiology, and multidisciplinary diagnostic pathways. Although the recruitment location is Dubai, United Arab Emirates, the appointed consultant will work in Saudi Arabia and support an advanced imaging department where accurate metabolic imaging, timely reporting, radiation safety, and collaboration with treating teams are essential. The role contributes to improved cancer staging, therapy monitoring, neurological assessment, diagnostic precision, and evidence‑based clinical decision‑making.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret PET CT and hybrid imaging studies, including SPECT CT, diagnostic CT, oncologic imaging, neurological imaging, cardiology‑related studies, and metabolic diagnostic scans.
• Provide accurate and timely reports that support diagnosis, staging, treatment planning, response assessment, and follow‑up decisions.
• Collaborate with oncologists, neurologists, surgeons, cardiologists, nuclear medicine teams, and other specialists to guide patient‑centered care.
• Participate in tumor boards, multidisciplinary meetings, complex case discussions, and treatment pathway reviews.
• Review imaging findings, clinical history, laboratory data, radiopharmaceutical use, tracer behaviour, and prior imaging to support high‑quality interpretation.
• Support oncologic imaging pathways by evaluating disease burden, metastatic spread, therapy response, recurrence, and treatment‑related changes.
• Assist neurological and cardiology diagnostic pathways through appropriate PET CT and hybrid imaging interpretation where clinically indicated.
• Supervise and guide nuclear medicine technologists, junior radiologists, residents, and imaging department staff.
• Ensure compliance with radiation safety protocols, SCFHS standards, hospital policies, clinical governance requirements, and reporting quality expectations.
• Maintain accurate reporting and workflow documentation using PACS, RIS, and advanced imaging systems.
• Contribute to clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, protocol refinement, reporting accuracy reviews, and departmental service development.
• Participate in research, academic teaching, continuous medical education, and institutional learning activities.
• Stay updated with advances in PET CT, nuclear medicine imaging, radiopharmaceutical protocols, tracer kinetics, hybrid imaging technology, and evidence‑based radiology practice.

Ideal Profile

• Medical degree such as MBBS or equivalent from a recognised institution.
• Completed residency training in Radiology.
• Fellowship or subspecialty training in PET CT or Nuclear Medicine Imaging.
• Board certification such as American Board, UK CCT, Canadian FRCP, or equivalent.
• Minimum 3–5 years of post‑fellowship experience in PET CT interpretation.
• Eligible for Consultant classification by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
• Strong background in oncologic imaging, metabolic diagnostics, hybrid imaging, and advanced reporting workflows.
• Experience with PET CT, SPECT CT, diagnostic CT, PACS, RIS, and advanced imaging platforms.
• Familiarity with radiopharmaceutical protocols, tracer kinetics, radiation safety, and nuclear medicine workflow standards.
• Excellent communication, reporting, documentation, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
• Proficiency in English is required, while Arabic is an advantage.
• Interest in academic teaching, clinical research, audits, and continuous professional development will be valued.
