Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and manage the full spectrum of neurosurgical conditions including brain tumours, spinal disorders, trauma, vascular lesions and functional neurosurgical cases.
- Perform complex neurosurgical procedures using microsurgical, endoscopic and minimally invasive surgical techniques.
- Lead multidisciplinary case discussions with neurology, ICU, oncology, radiology, pain management and rehabilitation teams.
- Oversee pre‑operative assessment, surgical planning, intra‑operative decision‑making and post‑operative recovery management.
- Manage emergency neurosurgical cases and high‑acuity tertiary care interventions with consultant‑level leadership.
- Ensure compliance with international standards for patient safety, clinical quality, surgical documentation and hospital governance.
- Participate in audits, morbidity and mortality reviews and continuous service improvement initiatives.
- Teach, mentor and support the development of residents, fellows, junior doctors and allied health care professionals.
- Engage in research, innovation and evidence‑based practice to improve neurosurgical outcomes.
- Support the strategic development and advancement of the hospital’s neuroscience and neurosurgical services.
Ideal Profile
- CCT, FRCS in Neurosurgery, American Board Certification or equivalent Tier‑1 specialist qualification is mandatory.
- Minimum 8 to 10 years of post‑specialty consultant‑level experience in neurosurgery.
- Proven experience in high‑acuity tertiary or academic medical centres.
- Strong expertise in neuro‑oncology, spine surgery, neuro‑vascular surgery or functional neurosurgery.
- Proficiency with advanced neurosurgical technologies including neuronavigation, intra‑operative imaging and neuro‑monitoring.
- Eligibility for DHA consultant licensing is required.
- Excellent leadership, communication and multidisciplinary teamwork abilities.
- Strong commitment to patient safety and evidence‑based surgical excellence.
