Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and manage a broad range of neurosurgical conditions, including brain tumors, spinal disorders, traumatic brain and spine injuries, neurovascular lesions, functional neurosurgical conditions, and complex cranial pathology.
- Perform advanced neurosurgical procedures using microsurgical, endoscopic, minimally invasive, image-guided, and technology-supported surgical techniques.
- Lead pre-operative evaluation, surgical planning, intraoperative decision-making, and structured post-operative follow-up for high-acuity neurosurgical patients.
- Use advanced neurosurgical technologies such as neuronavigation, intraoperative imaging, neuro-monitoring, and modern operative planning systems.
- Collaborate with neurology, intensive care, oncology, radiology, anesthesia, pain management, rehabilitation, emergency medicine, nursing, and allied health teams.
- Lead multidisciplinary discussions for complex cases requiring coordinated treatment pathways, surgical risk assessment, and long-term rehabilitation planning.
- Provide expert consultation for urgent neurosurgical referrals, trauma cases, spine emergencies, tumor management, and neurocritical care support.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation, operative reports, consent records, treatment plans, case reviews, and follow-up recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with international patient safety standards, hospital policies, clinical quality requirements, infection control, and UAE healthcare regulatory expectations.
- Participate in clinical governance, audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, case conferences, service improvement initiatives, and patient safety programs.
- Teach, mentor, and support residents, fellows, junior doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals involved in neurosurgical care.
- Engage in research, innovation, academic activity, publication support, and evidence-based practice to improve neurosurgical outcomes.
- Support the development of specialized neuroscience services, including neuro-oncology, spine surgery, neurovascular care, functional neurosurgery, and minimally invasive neurosurgical techniques.
Ideal Profile
- CCT, FRCS Neurosurgery, American Board Certification, or equivalent Tier-1 qualification in Neurosurgery.
- Minimum 8-10 years of post-specialty training experience in neurosurgery.
- Proven experience working in high-acuity tertiary hospitals, academic medical centers, or advanced neuroscience units.
- Eligibility for DHA Consultant License is required.
- Strong experience in complex cranial, spinal, tumor, trauma, vascular, and functional neurosurgical cases.
- Proficiency with advanced neurosurgical technologies, including neuronavigation, intraoperative imaging, neuro-monitoring, and minimally invasive platforms.
- Preferred subspecialty interest in neuro-oncology, spine surgery, neurovascular surgery, functional neurosurgery, or minimally invasive neurosurgical techniques.
- Strong surgical decision-making, patient assessment, risk communication, and multidisciplinary care coordination skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, teaching, documentation, and teamwork ability.
