Role Overview
Consultant - Head and Neck ENT Surgery in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is an advanced Hospital and Health Care opportunity for an experienced physician with strong expertise in otolaryngology, head and neck surgery, airway reconstruction, complex airway management, and ENT surgical oncology. The role requires managing adult and pediatric cases, performing complex procedures, supporting emergency airway care, and contributing to multidisciplinary service development within a high-standard healthcare environment.
Core Duties
- Provide comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow-up care for adult and pediatric ENT conditions.
- Perform advanced head and neck surgeries including thyroid, parathyroid, salivary gland, neck mass, reconstructive, and oncologic procedures.
- Lead complex airway management including difficult airway cases, tracheostomy care, airway reconstruction, and endoscopic airway interventions.
- Conduct outpatient ENT clinics, diagnostic assessments, endoscopic evaluations, treatment reviews, and long-term follow-up appointments.
- Manage emergency ENT cases such as airway obstruction, epistaxis, facial or neck trauma, deep neck infections, and urgent surgical presentations.
- Perform a full range of ENT surgeries, including endoscopic sinus surgery, otologic procedures, laryngeal surgery, airway procedures, and head and neck oncology operations.
- Collaborate with anesthesiology, oncology, radiology, pulmonology, ICU, pathology, speech therapy, nursing, and allied healthcare teams for integrated patient care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards, airway management committees, complex case reviews, surgical planning meetings, and morbidity and mortality discussions.
- Develop individualized care plans based on clinical findings, imaging results, pathology reports, airway status, patient risk, and treatment goals.
- Provide clear counselling to patients and families regarding diagnosis, surgical options, risks, expected outcomes, recovery needs, and follow-up care.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with DHA standards, hospital protocols, clinical governance rules, and ethical practice requirements.
- Contribute to quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, infection control compliance, surgical audit activity, and departmental protocol development.
- Teach and supervise residents, fellows, junior doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals in ENT, airway care, and head and neck surgical practice.
- Engage in research, publications, continuous professional development, and evidence-based advancement of ENT and head and neck services.
- Support service development, protocol creation, operational planning, and strategic growth for ENT, airway, and head and neck surgery programs.
Ideal Profile
- Medical degree such as MBBS, MD, or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Completion of residency and fellowship training in Otolaryngology or ENT.
- Western board certification such as UK CCT, American Board, Canadian FRCSC, Australian or New Zealand Fellowship, or equivalent recognized qualification.
- Subspecialty fellowship training in Head and Neck Surgery or Airway Surgery is preferred.
- Eligibility for DHA Consultant License.
- Minimum 8 years post-specialty qualification experience or as per DHA consultant criteria.
- Proven expertise in complex airway management, airway reconstruction, tracheostomy care, and endoscopic airway intervention.
- Strong experience in head and neck surgical oncology, thyroid surgery, parathyroid surgery, salivary gland surgery, neck mass management, and reconstructive ENT procedures.
- Experience in tertiary-care or high-volume ENT and head and neck centers will be an advantage.
- Strong clinical leadership, surgical decision-making, communication, and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage high-risk surgical and emergency airway cases with calm judgment, precision, and patient-centered care.
