This role provides specialist medical care for elderly patients with acute illnesses, chronic diseases, cognitive impairment, frailty, mobility limitations, and complex medication needs. The Consultant Geriatrician will assess each patient holistically, considering physical health, mental capacity, functional ability, social circumstances, and long-term care requirements. Close collaboration with nursing, rehabilitation, pharmacy, social services, and other clinical specialties will be essential. The consultant will help ensure that treatment decisions are coordinated, evidence-based, and aligned with the individual needs of patients and their families.
Applicants must hold an MBBS or equivalent medical qualification and possess recognized Board Certification, CCT, Fellowship, or an equivalent specialist credential in Geriatric Medicine. Physicians qualified in Internal Medicine with an approved specialization in Geriatrics may also be considered. Candidates must have at least three to five years of Consultant-level experience in Geriatric Medicine. Strong clinical capability in dementia, frailty, falls, osteoporosis, polypharmacy, multimorbidity, cognitive decline, and elderly rehabilitation planning is required. A valid Dubai Health Authority licence, eligibility letter, or confirmed eligibility to obtain one is essential. Fluency in Arabic and English is mandatory. The preferred consultant will communicate sensitively with elderly patients and their families, make balanced clinical decisions, and work effectively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
