Job summary

Allocation Assist Middle East is seeking a Consultant Geriatrician for a senior role in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The specialist will diagnose and manage age-related conditions, coordinate multidisciplinary care, and improve independence, safety, and quality of life for elderly patients.

The ideal candidate should have 3–5 years of consultant-level experience in Geriatric Medicine, fluency in Arabic and English, and an active Dubai Health Authority licence or eligibility.

Qualifications

• Applicants must hold an MBBS or equivalent medical qualification and possess Board Certification, CCT, Fellowship, or an equivalent specialist credential in Geriatric Medicine.
• Physicians qualified in Internal Medicine with an approved specialization in Geriatrics may also be considered.
• A valid Dubai Health Authority licence, eligibility letter, or confirmed eligibility to obtain one is essential.

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic illnesses affecting older adults.
• Perform comprehensive geriatric assessments covering medical, cognitive, functional, psychological, and social needs.
• Develop individualized care plans for elderly patients with complex or multiple health conditions.
• Diagnose and manage dementia, frailty, falls, osteoporosis, mobility decline, and other geriatric syndromes.
• Review polypharmacy and optimize medication plans to reduce adverse effects and treatment conflicts.
• Coordinate the management of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, respiratory illness, and other chronic conditions.
• Lead multidisciplinary case discussions for patients requiring complex treatment or long‑term support.
• Support safe discharge planning and continuity of care between hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation services, and home care.
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment options, medication use, and expected outcomes.
• Promote healthy ageing through preventive care, nutrition guidance, physical activity, vaccination, and fall prevention.
